Studentinord delivers food and beverage services to students and employees at Nord universitet. Among other things, we operate a canteen with hot food, sandwiches, salad bar and refrigerated goods, a coffee bar, self-service outlets, and catering for meetings, conferences, and other events.

We are now seeking a canteen employee who will have a central role in the daily operation of the serving area. You will largely have an overview of what is happening in the front and contribute to ensuring that tasks are coordinated, that counters and outlets look good, and not least that our customers are met in a positive way.

For some students, the canteen is a natural place to take a break, eat a good meal, or have a coffee between lectures. For others, it may be the day's first – or only – encounter with another human being. A smile, a "hello," or a pleasant little chat can be a small bright spot in a busy or difficult day.

The workday will be varied. You can work at the register, restock goods, coordinate tasks in the service area, prepare and deliver meeting food, collect returns, set up for events, or follow up on our self-service outlets. You will also be responsible for keeping track of orders and ensuring that deliveries and invoicing are followed up.

We therefore need a person who takes responsibility, sees what needs to be done, and gets things done. At the same time, cooperation is important. With us, we are a team, and everyone must be willing to contribute where needed.

It can be hectic at times, so you must thrive with the pace, be able to prioritize, and still have the energy to meet both customers and colleagues with a good mood.

Tasks

• Maintain an overview of the daily operation in the serving area
• Coordinate and distribute tasks in the service and seating areas
• Customer service and cash register work
• Ensure restocking and that the serving area appears tidy and inviting
• Prepare, deliver, and collect returns after meetings and events
• Setting up for meetings, events, and service
• Keeping track of orders and delivery times
• Invoicing
• Follow up and restock our self-service outlets (Trust Shops)
• Contribute to good service and good customer experiences
• Contribute where needed in the daily canteen operations

Qualifications

• Relevant experience from a canteen, catering, or similar work is desirable
• Waiter/waitress training is an advantage, but relevant experience can compensate
• You must be able to communicate well in Norwegian and have English skills
• Some work outside normal working hours must be expected in connection with events
• Personal suitability will be given great weight.

Working hours

With us, you will primarily work during the day and have every weekend off.

The position is permanent, 92.3 %, and involves so-called shortened working years. This means full working hours in ordinary work weeks, with time off during Christmas and Easter, and a longer summer vacation when activity on campus is lower.
