Data Platform Engineer – Industrial & Edge Systems
Company Description
Movu robotics, part of the stow group, is poised to become a global leader in the design, development, and implementation of warehouse automation solutions. This cutting-edge technology is redefining supply chain efficiency. By offering an integrated ecosystem of scalable and innovative solutions, Movu facilitates the deployment of robotic automation solutions for all warehouse operators.
If you want to grow as a professional, we are keeping a warm seat for you at Movu robotics.
Movu values your strengths, because they are our strengths!
We are a dynamic global company looking for passionate people to help us innovate at all levels.
Job Description
Your mission
Within our INSIGHTS team, you will contribute to transforming operational data from our robotic systems into reliable information that allows us to understand their operation, performance, and health status.
And here, we are not just talking about building dashboards.
Data comes directly from operating logistics systems: some events may be duplicated, arrive late, be incomplete, or be interpreted differently depending on software versions and facility configurations.
Your role will be to take charge of the technical chain that transforms these field events into reliable, reproducible, traceable, and actionable data and metrics.
You will work primarily in on-premise and edge environments, while participating in the preparation of an architecture capable, in the future, of connecting more to the cloud.
Concretely, you will:
- Design and develop ingestion and processing pipelines from operational databases, APIs, and event streams from our software and robotic equipment.
- Build robust mechanisms capable of handling duplicates, late or missing events, idempotence, reconciliation, and data replay.
- Preserve the raw data necessary to audit a result or recalculate a metric.
- Model and transform data into versioned and tested datasets.
- Implement the calculation logic for INSIGHTS metrics.
- Make data quality, completeness, pipeline status, and any potential limitations visible.
- Package and deploy the data chain on on-premise infrastructures.
- Participate in issues regarding upgrades, recovery, configuration, security, and connectivity.
- Investigate data discrepancies or inconsistencies with business experts.
- Support the first client pilots until understandable and technically defensible results are obtained.
- Contribute to technological and architectural choices with the INSIGHTS Architect, notably through prototypes and targeted experimentation.
Qualifications
The profile we are looking for
You have approximately 3 to 6 years of experience in Data Engineering, Data Platform Engineering, or Software Engineering with a strong data component.
Above all, we are looking for someone who builds.
You have already developed pipelines yourself, put them into production, and had to understand why, one day, certain data no longer arrived where it was expected.
Specifically, you possess:
- solid skills in Python and SQL;
- good foundations in data modeling;
- software development best practices: Git, testing, CI/CD;
- practical experience with distributed systems, event-driven systems, or production data pipelines;
- comfort with Linux, containers, logs, and networking issues;
- the ability to understand a physical or industrial process and transform sometimes ambiguous operational behavior into explicit engineering rules.
Experience in industrial, IoT, edge, or on-premise environments is a real asset, but it is not indispensable if your technical fundamentals are solid.
You are curious, pragmatic, and autonomous. You like to understand how things actually work, question an architecture, test a hypothesis, and see a problem through to the end.
A personal project, an open source contribution, or simply the ability to explain to us precisely what you have actually built will often interest us more than a long list of technologies on your CV.
You are also capable of explaining and defending your technical choices — including having the perspective to recognize those you would not make again today.
You will work in an international environment: fluent professional English is required.
Our current technical environment
Our experiments currently use, in particular:
MQTT • Kafka-compatible event log • Spark • Iceberg • SQL • dbt • Object Storage • Containers • On-premise VMs
But beware: this is not a checklist.
Our architecture is still evolving. We prefer to recruit someone with solid engineering fundamentals, capable of learning and making relevant choices, rather than a profile that matches every technology used today.
And tomorrow?
You will join INSIGHTS at Movu Robotics at a time when much remains to be built.
You will work in complementarity with the person in charge of KPI Governance & Adoption and with our INSIGHTS Architect.
As the platform develops and is deployed across more systems and sites, the position may progressively evolve towards broader technical responsibility for the INSIGHTS data platform.
If you like environments where not everything is yet written, where you must understand the field, test, build, and truly make what you develop work, we should have a lot to talk about.
