Research Assistant with a focus on biogeochemistry
The Department of Environmental Science is one of the larger departments within the Faculty of Science. The department consists of four units with over 170 employees including researchers, teachers, doctoral students, and technical/administrative staff from more than 30 different countries. Research and teaching are conducted within environmental chemistry, ecotoxicology, atmospheric science, and biogeochemistry. Research at the Unit for Biogeochemistry focuses on carbon and nitrogen cycles as well as heavy metals in soil, freshwater systems, and oceans. The unit has a strong and long-term research focus on the impact of global warming in the Arctic, with an overall goal to improve knowledge of these systems and future projections for their biogeochemical cycles. The Unit for Biogeochemistry is now seeking a research assistant to complement our team.

Tasks
The employment is linked to ongoing projects regarding interactions between plants and soil in tundra. The tasks include processing soil and plant samples (grinding, weighing) as well as various laboratory analyses (e.g., of pH, nutrients).
Qualifications
Applicants are expected to have a Swedish master's degree or an equivalent degree from another country. We are looking for a highly motivated person with experience in laboratory work and with soil and plant samples. The evaluation will be based on previous experience, independence, and the ability to cooperate with others. A background in, for example, biology, geo- or environmental science would be very suitable. Good cooperative skills and good knowledge of English are requirements.
About the employment
The employment is for full-time and is valid for a maximum of 4 months with commencement in September 2026. Stockholm University applies individual salary setting.
