Teacher for middle school, specializing in English and Spanish
Kungälv is a small, charming city about 20 km north of Göteborg. The municipality is in an expansive phase where both housing and shopping centers are being built. In Kungälv, you will find both the city's offerings as well as proximity to nature and the sea. The city center offers several beautiful parks and, of course, the historical Bohus fästning.
Montessoriskolan Älvkullen is located in the center of Kungälv with proximity to the public transport hub. The school is located halfway up Fontinberget, which provides a wonderful view over the city and Nordre Älv. This also means we are close to Fontins motionscentral and nature areas. The school regularly uses the Fontin area for nature studies and outdoor days.
The building itself is an old school that was inaugurated in 1913, and a wing was built in 1934. The premises have an old-fashioned charm with large, lovely windows. We have our own preparation kitchen where food is cooked from scratch every day by our chef. The students eat in their respective classrooms to create a calm and harmonious meal. The school is characterized by a warm and homey atmosphere where everyone is seen. Montessoriskolan Älvkullen has approximately 130 students and 18 preschool children and is a workplace for 30 people.
TASKS
We are now looking for a teacher for our middle school, grades 7-9, specializing in English and Spanish. Do you want to join us and continue developing our school?
We at Älvkullen work according to Maria Montessori's pedagogy. This means that the school works with specially designed Montessori material, but of course also with traditional teaching materials. We work towards every child becoming as independent as possible based on their age and maturity. This means that all staff at the school actively work to "help the children to help themselves."
The goal is to maintain relatively small age groups, which means we have a maximum of 16 students born in the same year. Teaching is conducted in mixed ages in the preschool and lower ages, then gradually transitions to teaching aimed at a specific age group during the transition periods. The educators at the school work closely together across stage boundaries.
The school works to promote a good working environment where everyone gets to be heard. We also work hard to maintain a good core value system where we respect each other.
You will work together with 3-5 colleagues, where you will jointly be responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating the work for the students in middle school.
Your tasks include responsibility for the planning and teaching of English for all students in middle school based on national goals and regulatory documents. You will also be responsible for teaching Spanish for the students who have chosen the language as their language choice in middle school. Mentorship is included in the position.
QUALIFICATIONS
We are looking for you who is a teacher and has authorization in English and Spanish. According to law, certification is required for permanent employment.
You are a person who takes responsibility for your students' development and can meet them both individually and in groups based on the individual's specific needs.
You need to have a good ability to collaborate with colleagues, create good relationships with guardians, and keep the student in focus.
You need to have a good ability to document your activities.
WORK EXPERIENCE
You are a trained teacher with or without certification. Montessori training and work experience are merits. Great importance is placed on personal suitability.
ABOUT EMPLOYMENT TERMS
Salary is set according to agreement. The position is a permanent part-time position, daytime, and starts by agreement. Interviews and recruitment take place continuously.
