Company Information For an international industrial player within metal processing, recycling, and material technology in the south of Antwerp, I am looking for an Automation Project Lead.

Within the Technology team, a new automation team is currently being expanded, which will play an important role in the optimization and automation of processes on-site in the coming years. As an Automation Project Lead, you will have the opportunity to shape automation initiatives from concept to implementation preparation.

Your tasks

Responsibilities as Automation Project Lead In this role, you will take the lead on automation projects with a focus on the concept phase. You will delve into production processes, map out challenges and opportunities, and translate these into concrete automation solutions. You will then cast these into a business case. In doing so, you will work closely with stakeholders from production, maintenance, IT, engineering, safety, and environment.

Your responsibilities include, among others:

• Analyzing and understanding operational processes on the shop floor.
• Identifying automation opportunities and critically evaluating existing working methods.
• Applying lean thinking and process optimization within production environments.
• Translating operational needs into functional and technical specifications.
• Developing automation concepts.
• Evaluating potential technologies and suppliers for automation projects.
• Drafting technical documentation, concept descriptions, and project definitions.
• Building business cases and investment proposals.
• Coordinating with internal stakeholders such as production, maintenance, IT, engineering, HSE, legal, and procurement.
• Identifying and managing project risks, dependencies, and priorities.
• Preparing projects for execution and handover to the engineering team.
• Supporting the implementation phase as a technical sparring partner and subject matter expert.

Requirements

Your Profile We are looking for an analytical and communicative automation profile that knows how to combine technical knowledge with project management and stakeholder management.

You possess:

• A master's degree in Engineering or equivalent through experience.
• Experience leading automation or engineering projects from the concept phase to handover.
• Broad knowledge of industrial automation systems.
• Fluency in English. Dutch is a strong plus.
