Nottinghamshire, Lincolnshire and wider contract area.

Initially self-employed, with potential permanent employment after approximately 12 months.

Own suitable van essential + company fuel card provided.

The Role

We are looking for a reliable and experienced Reactive Maintenance Engineer to carry out reactive maintenance and repairs across a portfolio of busy retail premises.

The successful candidate will have a strong carpentry background , alongside competent plumbing and waste-pipework skills. You will be confident attending sites independently, diagnosing faults and completing effective repairs.

The role involves regular travel across Nottinghamshire and Lincolnshire. Evening and out-of-hours work will also be required depending on the needs of the contract.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out reactive maintenance and repairs across retail sites.
  • Diagnose faults and identify practical solutions with minimal supervision.
  • Undertake general carpentry, joinery and building maintenance.
  • Repair and replace doors, frames, ironmongery, fixtures and fittings.
  • Carry out plumbing repairs and maintenance.
  • Install, repair and replace plastic waste pipework and associated fittings.
  • Investigate and clear blocked waste pipes and foul-waste systems.
  • Diagnose and resolve drainage and wastewater issues.
  • Maintain accurate job records and report completed works promptly.
  • Complete all work safely and to a high, right-first-time standard.

Experience

We're looking for a self-reliant and practical Reactive Maintenance Engineer who takes ownership of their work and is comfortable working independently.

You will have:

  • Strong carpentry and joinery experience – essential .
  • Competent plumbing skills, particularly plastic waste pipework – essential .
  • Experience in reactive maintenance or facilities maintenance.
  • The ability to diagnose faults and find practical solutions.
  • A full UK driving licence.
  • Your own suitable van to carry tools, materials and equipment.
