Position Overview
The Senior Cash Flow Manager leads day-to-day cash flow and capital activity for an assigned portfolio of StepStone-managed private-market vehicles and the team supporting that portfolio. The role combines hands-on review of capital calls, distributions, investment funding and expense-related cash flows with workload management, administrator coordination and disciplined execution of Fund Accounting controls.
Working with Fund Accounting leadership, Treasury Operations, Financial Reporting, Investment Operations, Capital Markets, Tax and external administrators, the manager ensures activity is accurate, supported and timely. Complex transactions, control exceptions and material funding risks are escalated to the Vice President or designated leadership. The role implements established policies within its assigned scope, rather than setting firmwide governance or owning all asset-class teams.
Essential Job Functions:
Oversee capital calls, distributions, investment funding and expense-related cash flows for assigned funds; manage the capital activity calendar and review priorities
Coordinate administrator deliverables, internal review milestones and fund-specific requirements; communicate cash requirements, dependencies and timing risks
Review investor allocations, notices, ILPA templates and supporting schedules against fund terms and approved inputs; resolve discrepancies and document required approvals
Track investor receipts and funding status, follow up on missing wires and late payments, and coordinate closing requirements with Investment Operations and deal teams
Escalate unresolved funding shortfalls, unusual allocations, complex capital events and control exceptions promptly to Fund Accounting leadership
Apply established controls, including segregation of duties, documented preparation and review, exception tracking and SOX-aligned controls where applicable; maintain audit support and propose corrective actions
Coordinate payment readiness within delegated approval limits. Treasury Operations retains payment execution, bank administration and entitlements; this role has no unconditional final wire-release authority
Coordinate withholding schedules and EFTPS or jurisdiction-specific payment timing with Tax, without independently determining tax treatment. Share funding dependencies with Credit Operations; facility draws, repayments and borrowing operations remain with that team
Manage the assigned team's workload, coverage and concurrent deadlines; escalate capacity constraints. Team size and direct-report scope are subject to confirmation
Coach staff on fund mechanics, review quality, controls and stakeholder communication; provide timely feedback and identify development needs
Maintain tracking tools and dashboards for activity, funding, exceptions and deadlines; implement approved automation and process improvements while preserving review controls and improving administrator handoffs and data quality
Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or a related field; CPA preferred
7+ years of relevant experience, with preferred experience within private-market fund accounting, treasury or cash flow operations experience, including capital activity review and administrator coordination
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong knowledge of private-market capital mechanics, allocations, calls, distributions and funding; ability to interpret fund-specific requirements, review schedules, maintain review evidence and exercise sound escalation judgment.
Demonstrated ability to supervise or lead a cash flow operations team, prioritize concurrent deadlines and coach staff.
Clear written and verbal communication, strong attention to detail and practical judgment under time pressure.
Experience improving operational tracking, reporting or repeatable workflows.
Base Salary: $140,000 - $150,000
