BUYER
ST Engineering iDirect's Manufacturing Competence Center (MCC) is an electronics manufacturer specializing in the assembly of complex printed circuit boards and system integration for the defense, medical, and aerospace markets.
We are building the future of high-tech manufacturing. As a specialist in the assembly of complex electronics for defense, medical applications, and aerospace, we are in the midst of an ambitious transformation. Our production capacity is growing, our processes are becoming smarter, and our supply chain must evolve along with us.
That is why we are looking for a Senior Buyer to strengthen our supply chain.
As a Senior Buyer, you are the strategic hub between suppliers, engineering, and operations. You ensure that we have the right suppliers, materials, and conditions to maintain our high-tech production at a top level. In an environment where complex supply chains and critical deadlines converge, you make the difference.
You play a key role in both new product introductions and series production and actively build a high-performing, reliable supply base. In this senior role, you manage strategic supplier relationships and negotiate contracts and terms. You work closely with the Operations Manager, the sales team, and other internal stakeholders. In this way, you continuously safeguard the optimal balance between cost, quality, and delivery reliability.
What you do
- Strategic supplier selection — You expand a reliable, scalable supply base.
- Smart negotiation — You negotiate prices, terms, and contracts with a healthy dose of assertiveness.
- Managing supply chain risks — You spot problems before they arise and take proactive corrective action.
- Internal alignment — You work closely with engineering, production, logistics, and sales.
- Operational excellence — You ensure that quotes arrive smoothly, orders are processed correctly, and deliveries never become a bottleneck.
- Building the future — You help establish a sourcing strategy that is ready for growth.
What you bring
- 3–5 years of experience in an operational, coordinating, or customer-oriented role within manufacturing, electronics, or industrial B2B.
- Understanding of how a production environment works: lead times, material constraints, realistic planning.
- Experience with ERP systems and digital supply chain tools.
- The ability to manage multiple workflows simultaneously without losing sight of the essentials.
How you work
- You remain calm when it gets busy and bring structure where necessary.
- You communicate clearly with suppliers, production, and sales.
- You take responsibility, even when you are not the final decision-maker.
- You are action-oriented: you don't wait, you move.
Who you are
- Proactive thinker — You see problems coming and solve them before someone else sees them.
- Structure provider — You maintain an overview in an environment with many variables.
- Negotiator — You challenge suppliers and build strong relationships.
- Communicator — You switch smoothly between teams and stakeholders. You have a thorough knowledge of English.
- Hands-on doer — You take hold of things and follow them up until they are truly completed. You also handle the necessary administration.
- ERP-proficient — Experience with SAP is a plus.
What it is not?
This is not a role for someone who waits quietly for a purchase request to arrive.
What it is?
This is a job for someone who thinks ahead, takes initiative, and gets energy from creating order in a complex environment. In this role, you are the one who prevents problems before they arise, who enjoys negotiating and challenging suppliers, and who communicates clearly and follows up meticulously. You see what needs to be done — and you just take care of it.
