Senior Planning Engineer

Job Responsibilities

• Develop, maintain and monitor the master project schedule for a large-scale hospital construction project.
• Prepare detailed construction programmes covering architectural, structural, M&E and other project activities.
• Coordinate with Project Managers, engineers, consultants, subcontractors and relevant stakeholders to establish realistic project schedules.
• Monitor actual progress against the approved baseline programme and identify schedule deviations.
• Prepare weekly and monthly progress reports, programme updates and management reports.
• Analyse project delays, identify critical activities and recommend appropriate recovery measures.
• Monitor critical path activities and key project milestones to ensure timely project completion.
• Review subcontractors' programmes and assess their progress against contractual and project requirements.
• Coordinate with site teams to obtain accurate progress information and update project schedules accordingly.
• Prepare short-term and detailed look-ahead programmes for site execution.
• Assist in evaluating the impact of design changes, variations, delays and other events on the project schedule.
• Support the preparation of extension-of-time (EOT) submissions and delay analysis where required.
• Identify potential schedule risks and coordinate with the project team to develop mitigation and recovery plans.
• Attend progress and coordination meetings and provide updates on programme status, critical issues and recovery actions.
• Maintain proper records of project programmes, progress updates, delay events and supporting documentation.
• Coordinate planning information between different disciplines and ensure consistency between construction programmes and site activities.
• Assist the Project Director / Project Manager in project planning, monitoring and overall schedule management.
• Perform other planning and project control duties as assigned.

Job Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management or a related discipline.
• Minimum 7 years of relevant planning experience in the construction industry.
• Experience in large-scale building, hospital, healthcare or institutional projects will be an advantage.
• Experience working with a main contractor or Design & Build contractor is preferred.
• Strong knowledge of construction planning, scheduling and project controls.
• Proficient in Primavera P6; knowledge of Microsoft Project and other planning/project-control software will be an advantage.
• Good understanding of construction methodologies, sequencing and project scheduling.
• Experience in progress monitoring, critical path analysis, delay analysis and recovery planning.
• Familiarity with EOT and construction claims documentation will be an advantage.
• Strong analytical, organisational and problem-solving skills.
• Good communication and coordination skills with the ability to work with multidisciplinary project teams.
• Able to work independently and manage multiple planning requirements under tight project deadlines.
