Civil & Structural (C&S) Manager

Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Civil & Structural (C&S) Manager to oversee and manage civil and structural works for a major hospital construction project in Singapore. The successful candidate will be responsible for the technical coordination, planning, supervision and delivery of C&S works in accordance with approved designs, project specifications, quality standards and statutory requirements.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage and coordinate all civil and structural works for the hospital construction project from planning through to completion.
• Review and coordinate structural drawings, specifications, calculations, method statements and construction details.
• Coordinate C&S works with architectural, M&E, specialist subcontractors and other project disciplines to resolve design and site issues.
• Work closely with consultants, architects, engineers, subcontractors and project teams to ensure proper coordination and timely completion of works.
• Monitor site progress and ensure C&S works are carried out according to approved drawings, specifications, method statements and project schedules.
• Identify technical and construction issues and coordinate with the relevant parties to develop practical solutions.
• Review shop drawings, material submissions, technical proposals and requests for information (RFIs).
• Monitor the quality of C&S works and ensure compliance with project specifications, approved drawings and relevant Singapore standards and regulations.
• Supervise and coordinate subcontractors involved in civil and structural works.
• Attend site meetings, technical coordination meetings and progress meetings with consultants and subcontractors.
• Assist in planning construction sequences, manpower requirements, material requirements and work programmes.
• Monitor project progress and highlight potential delays, technical constraints and interface issues to the Project Manager.
• Coordinate inspection, testing and rectification of C&S works.
• Ensure proper documentation and records of C&S works, inspections, approvals and technical submissions.
• Coordinate with the design team and relevant authorities on technical matters where required.
• Ensure compliance with workplace safety, environmental and project requirements.
• Provide technical guidance and support to engineers, coordinators and site teams.
• Perform any other duties related to civil and structural works as assigned by the Project Manager.

Requirements

• Degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
• Minimum 8 years of relevant experience in civil and structural construction works, preferably in large-scale building or institutional projects.
• Relevant experience in managing civil and structural works for hospital, healthcare, commercial, institutional or complex building projects will be advantageous.
• Strong knowledge of structural and civil construction methods, drawings, specifications and site coordination.
• Experience in coordinating consultants, subcontractors and multidisciplinary project teams.
• Good understanding of Singapore construction practices, statutory requirements and relevant codes and standards.
• Ability to review and interpret engineering drawings, specifications and technical documents.
• Strong project coordination, problem-solving and communication skills.
• Able to work independently and manage multiple technical and site matters in a fast-paced construction environment.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office and relevant engineering/construction software.
• Professional Engineer(PE) registration or relevant professional accreditation will be an advantage.
