Job Responsibilities
- Assist the Procurement Manager in managing procurement activities for a large-scale hospital construction project.
- Plan and coordinate the procurement of construction materials, equipment, services and subcontract works according to project requirements.
- Source and evaluate suppliers, vendors and subcontractors based on price, quality, capability and delivery requirements.
- Prepare and issue quotation enquiries, tender documents and procurement requests.
- Review and evaluate quotations and commercial proposals from suppliers and subcontractors.
- Prepare quotation comparison and procurement recommendation reports for management review and approval.
- Assist in negotiating prices, payment terms, delivery schedules and commercial conditions.
- Coordinate with project, engineering, quantity surveying and site teams to determine procurement requirements.
- Monitor procurement schedules and ensure timely placement of orders and delivery of materials and equipment.
- Follow up with suppliers and subcontractors on production, delivery schedules and outstanding issues.
- Monitor supplier and subcontractor performance and assist in resolving procurement-related issues.
- Review purchase orders, subcontract documents and other procurement documentation.
- Maintain proper records of quotations, tender evaluations, purchase orders, contracts and supplier information.
- Identify potential cost-saving opportunities and alternative sources of materials or services.
- Assist in monitoring market conditions, material prices and supplier availability.
- Ensure procurement activities comply with company procedures, project requirements and approval processes.
- Coordinate with the Accounts and project teams regarding invoices, payments and procurement-related matters.
- Assist the Procurement Manager in managing procurement risks and ensuring continuity of supply for critical project materials.
- Perform other procurement-related duties as assigned by the Procurement Manager / Project Manager.
Job Requirements
- Diploma or Degree in Procurement, Supply Chain Management, Business, Construction Management, Quantity Surveying or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant procurement experience, preferably in the construction industry.
- Experience in hospital, healthcare, institutional or large-scale building projects will be an advantage.
- Experience with a main contractor or Design & Build contractor is preferred.
- Good knowledge of construction materials, equipment, subcontract packages and procurement processes.
- Experience in tendering, sourcing, quotation evaluation and commercial negotiation.
- Good understanding of purchase orders, subcontract documentation and commercial terms.
- Strong negotiation, analytical and commercial skills.
- Good communication and coordination skills.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Familiarity with ERP or procurement management systems will be an advantage.
- Able to manage multiple procurement activities and work within project deadlines.
- Able to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary project team.
