Interaction Designer

GDS Inside IR35: £350-£375 per day Remote - ad-hoc onsite in Coventry ASAP - 3 months, extension expected We are recruiting an experienced Interaction Designer to support a major public-sector digital programme. Working as part of a multidisciplinary team, you will design clear, accessible and user-centred interfaces using the GOV.UK Design Role responsibilities Design accessible, user-centred interfaces for complex government digital services.

Create and iterate prototypes using the GOV.UK Prototype Kit.

Apply and contribute to patterns within the GOV.UK Design System.

Translate user needs and research findings into effective interaction designs.

Work closely with user researchers, service designers, product managers and developers.

Test design concepts and refine solutions using evidence and stakeholder feedback.

Communicate design decisions clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Ensure designs meet the Government Service Standard and accessibility requirements.

Key experience and requirements Strong experience working as an Interaction Designer within GDS-aligned teams.

Practical experience using the GOV.UK Design System and GOV.UK Prototype Kit.

Evidence of designing complex transactional or public-facing digital services.

Strong prototyping skills, including HTML and CSS.

Good understanding of accessibility standards and inclusive-design principles.

Experience collaborating within agile, multidisciplinary delivery teams.

Ability to use research evidence to inform and defend design decisions.

Strong stakeholder-management, communication and design-playback skills.
