Software Developer – Power BI / SQL Server

About the Role We are looking for an experienced Software Developer specializing in Power BI and Microsoft SQL Server to support the development and optimization of enterprise-level software and business intelligence solutions.

• Design, develop, maintain, and optimize Power BI solutions, including interactive dashboards, data models, paginated reports, and custom solutions.
• Develop and optimize Microsoft SQL Server applications using T-SQL, database views, and efficient query design.
• Design and implement data, business logic, and user interface layers.
• Develop and maintain data models, DAX calculations, and Power Query transformations using the M language.
• Optimize Power BI performance through SQL source optimization, efficient data retrieval, and query folding.
• Implement and maintain Row-Level Security (RLS) and Object-Level Security (OLS).
• Integrate solutions with external systems and services using Web Services, REST APIs, and HTTP APIs.
• Participate in the complete software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering and solution design to implementation, testing, deployment, and maintenance.
• Gather business requirements, analyze stakeholder needs, and prepare technical specifications for proposed solutions.
• Design and document technical solutions, including application architecture and UML diagrams where appropriate.
• Provide technical leadership, support team collaboration, and contribute to technical decision-making.
• Participate in Scrum-based development processes and collaborate with developers, technical leads, and business stakeholders.
• Identify technical issues, troubleshoot complex problems, and propose effective, scalable solutions.
• Present technical solutions and recommendations to business stakeholders and other audiences.

Requirements

The ideal candidate combines strong hands-on technical expertise in Power BI, SQL Server, and data analytics with the ability to design end-to-end solutions, translate business requirements into technical specifications, and provide technical guidance to development teams.

This role requires a strong understanding of the full software development lifecycle, enterprise application architecture, and collaboration with both technical teams and business stakeholders.

Required Skills and Experience

• At least 4 years of professional experience in software development, including at least 2 years in a similar role.
• At least 2 years of experience in Power BI development or full-stack Power BI support, including custom solutions, dashboards, data models, and paginated reports.
• Strong hands-on experience with Microsoft Power BI, including DAX, Power Query (M), data modeling, and report development.
• Strong knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server and T-SQL, including query optimization, database views, and performance tuning.
• Experience with Web Services, REST APIs, and HTTP APIs.
• Proven ability to optimize Power BI performance through SQL source optimization and query folding.
• Knowledge of advanced analytics tools and Power BI security mechanisms, including RLS and OLS.
• Experience designing and developing data layers, business logic layers, and user interface layers.
• Knowledge of UML and the ability to design and communicate application structures using UML diagrams.
• Experience working in Scrum-based development environments.
• Experience participating in at least one complete software solution lifecycle.
• Ability to document technical solutions clearly and effectively.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to gather and analyze requirements and translate business needs into technical specifications.
• Experience collaborating with technical teams and presenting solutions to business stakeholders.
• Ability to provide technical guidance and demonstrate leadership within a development team.

Education and Certification Requirements

• A completed bachelor's degree or equivalent first-cycle higher education qualification, confirmed by a diploma. The degree does not need to be directly related to the position.
• At least one of the following:
• An intermediate-level certification in software development relevant to the technology domain.
• An internationally recognized equivalent certification, subject to acceptance by the Contracting Authority.
