Critical and Dangerous Cargo Supervisor

An international player in logistics services is looking for an enthusiastic Critical and Dangerous Cargo Supervisor for their operational team in Antwerpen. This position offers a challenging combination of responsibility, impact, and growth within a dynamic and global organization.

The responsibilities for this position are:

• You supervise the assessment, approval, and planning of dangerous goods, with attention to full compliance with international regulations and internal policies.
• You verify the completeness and accuracy of documentation and labeling before shipment, to ensure maximum safety and compliance.
• You provide technical guidance and support to international agencies, operational teams, and stakeholders, ensuring that safety standards and regulations are always adhered to.
• You monitor the fleet planning for dangerous goods and ensure that all documents remain up to date.
• You manage the assessment and approval of waste streams according to international guidelines and oversee critical shipments in collaboration with relevant authorities.
• You investigate non-compliance, misdeclared, and undeclared cargo and take appropriate corrective measures, ensuring that safety and compliance always come first.
• You closely follow evolutions in laws and regulations and implement all changes within the organization in a timely manner.
• You act as a key figure as an expert in the field of dangerous goods, hazardous waste, and critical cargo, advising both management and operational teams.
• You build sustainable contacts with regulatory bodies, vessels, terminals, and internal teams to stimulate a strong safety and compliance culture.
• You support training, improvement projects, and best practices that enhance operational efficiency, safety, and risk management.

The required qualifications are:

• You have a Master or Bachelor's degree in Maritime Studies, Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Chemistry, or a related discipline.
• You possess demonstrable experience in shipping or logistics operations, compliance, or dangerous goods transport.
• You have strong knowledge of the IMDG Code and relevant regulations, acquired through education, training, or practice.
• You are familiar with shipping and logistics processes, such as cargo acceptance, vessel planning, compliance, and safety.
• You are analytical, quality-conscious, and can make quick and correct decisions in complex situations.
• You possess excellent communication and stakeholder management skills and can effectively collaborate with diverse teams and cultures.
• You are independent, prioritize easily, and perform well in a fast-paced, practical work environment.
• You are flexible, willing to travel, and have a good command of English; other languages are a plus.
