Staff Accountant

The SQA Finance team is looking for a Staff Accountant to coordinate and assist other members of the Finance team in all related activities surrounding payroll and account management (accounts receivable/payable).
To be an excellent Staff Accountant, you must be organized and detail-oriented, comfortable working with diverse teams. If you have further skills in accounting, we’d like to meet you.
The goal will be to provide additional support in critical tasks within our internal finance department.
Key Responsibilities: Manage billing activities, credit and collections, bank deposits, cash receipts, customer account maintenance, and accounts receivable records
Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable
Collaborate with client representatives and internal teams to research and resolve billing, payment, and other accounting-related inquiries
Process payments and maintain accurate accounts payable and disbursement records
Assist with payroll processing, including reviewing employee time and expense reports
Assist with benefits administration, unemployment and workers’ compensation claims, and tracking employee vacation and sick leave balances
Prepare financial reports, account schedules, and supporting documentation
Month-End & Year-End Close: Assist with account reconciliations, journal entries, closing activities, and preparation of supporting records
Research discrepancies, reconcile accounts, and support general accounting activities as needed
Identify opportunities to improve accounting procedures, increase efficiency, and enhance accuracy and consistency
Respond to inquiries professionally, investigate discrepancies, communicate findings, and coordinate with stakeholders to resolve issues
Support other accounting and administrative functions and special projects as assigned
Skills and Qualifications: Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Business, or related field
Minimum of 4 years of progressive accounting experience, including significant Accounts Receivable experience
Strong problem-solving skills
Excellent time-management skills and a process-oriented approach
Strong analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills
Excellent organization skills with strong attention to detail
Technically strong in Excel and software skills
Highly proficient in MS Office Suite
Hands-on experience with accounting software; QuickBooks experience preferred
Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, PivotTables, and commonly used Excel functions
Local to Los Angeles and able to support at HQ in Palos Verdes
Ability to manage multiple priorities, meet deadlines, and work effectively in a fast-paced environment
Ability to work independently and collaborate effectively with internal teams and external stakeholders
