Operations Supervisor
Larne, Northern Ireland We’re recruiting an Operations Supervisor to join an established port operation in Larne. This newly created role will focus on staff planning, operational administration and people management, helping the team deliver a safe, efficient and reliable service. The role Working closely with the senior operations team and existing supervisors, you’ll coordinate staffing requirements and provide day-to-day support across the port. Your responsibilities will include: Managing staff rosters, annual leave and sickness absence to ensure suitable cover. Supervising up to five direct reports, supporting their performance, training and development. Supporting load control and helping plan around operational challenges or disruption. Maintaining safe systems of work, work instructions and accurate operational records. Helping teams follow health, safety and environmental procedures. Identifying improvements to working practices and supporting the team through change. Acting as a link between frontline supervisors and senior management. About you You’ll bring experience supervising people in an operational environment, with strong administration, planning and communication skills. Around three to five years’ relevant experience would be ideal. Your background could be in transport, haulage, logistics, ports or retail operations. Previous port experience is not essential , but experience managing rosters, staffing levels and absence will be particularly valuable. We’re looking for someone who: Can lead and motivate a team, with the confidence to address issues and have constructive conversations. Is organised, comfortable using IT systems and able to manage competing priorities. Takes initiative, anticipates staffing needs and follows through on actions. Understands the importance of safe working practices. Can build relationships with experienced operational teams and encourage improvements. Holds a valid driving licence, required for travelling between buildings across the port site. Full right to work in Northern Ireland is essential.
