We are looking for a Materials Scientist to join our Fab & Growth team

As part of Sparrow’s Quantum wafer growth activities, we are seeking an experienced Materials Scientist to conduct wafer growth processes with our Fabrication and Growth team, located at the new Niels Bohr Building.

As Materials Scientist, you will develop and implement wafer growth processes using molecular beam epitaxy methods and ensure successful execution with highest material quality. You'll work closely with technical leads to coordinate scientific development and move the quantum dots technology further.

You’ll be part of a collaborative team that ensures Sparrow Quantum’s research and innovation projects are executed with excellence.

Responsibilities

Develop wafer-scale epitaxy and in close collaboration with nanofabrication activities, quantum dot characterization, and numerical modelling activities

Build capabilities to analyse and test new devices

Implement and document processes and operating procedures, tests & specifications

Track variation and process capability, identify and support continuous improvement initiatives towards tool and process improvement

MBE maintenance and troubleshooting

Cross-teams collaboration

Must-Have Qualifications

PhD in physics/materials science/mechanical engineering or similar

Hands-on experience with UHV systems, various pumps and their maintenance

A proven record of working with molecular beam epitaxy systems

Deep understanding of epitaxial growth preferably with III-V based materials

Experience in basic sample characterization, including but not limited to SEM, AFM, XRD, TEM

Curiosity and desire to investigate potential issues/perfect final result

Willingness to collaborate and deliver results in a clear and structured way

Strong focus on the final goal, self-discipline and prioritization

Nice-to-Have Experience

Experience with characterization techniques such as photoluminescence, transport measurements at 4K via van der Pauw method

Knowledge of coding/ AI implementation to facilitate data extraction and analysis

Basic knowledge of fabrication tools (scriber, wet benches, asher, optical microscopes, spinners)
