*Position Overview*

We are seeking a passionate, enthusiastic, and reliable *Saxophone Instructor* to join our team. The successful candidate will teach private and small-group saxophone lessons to children, teens, and adults, helping students develop strong technical skills, musicianship, confidence, and a lifelong love of music.

*Responsibilities*

• Teach engaging and individualized saxophone lessons to students of all ages and skill levels.
• Instruct students in proper posture, breathing, embouchure, tone production, articulation, finger technique, sight-reading, and musicianship.
• Teach various musical styles, including classical, jazz, pop, contemporary, and improvisation.
• Develop lesson plans tailored to each student's goals, interests, and learning style.
• Prepare students for recitals, performances, festivals, competitions, auditions, and examinations when applicable.
• Teach scales, technical exercises, ear training, and music theory concepts relevant to saxophone studies.
• Encourage creativity, confidence, and strong performance skills.
• Monitor student progress and provide regular feedback to students and families.
• Maintain a positive, encouraging, and professional learning environment.
• Communicate effectively with parents, students, and academy administration.
• Arrive prepared and on time for all scheduled lessons.
• Participate in academy events, recitals, camps, and special programs when required.

*Qualifications*

• Minimum 1?2 years of saxophone teaching experience.
• Degree or diploma in Music Performance, Music Education, Saxophone Performance, or a related field preferred.
• Strong knowledge of saxophone technique, repertoire, musicianship, and pedagogy.
• Ability to teach students from beginner to advanced levels.
• Experience teaching children, teens, and adults.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• Patient, energetic, organized, and dependable.
• Ability to inspire and motivate students of all ages and abilities.
• Ability to teach beginner music theory is considered an asset.
• Vulnerable Sector Check (or willingness to obtain one).
• Legally eligible to work in Canada.

*Preferred Qualifications*

• Experience preparing students for performances, festivals, competitions, auditions, and examinations.
• Experience teaching multiple styles, including jazz improvisation and contemporary music.
• Ability to teach additional woodwind instruments, such as clarinet or flute, is considered a strong asset.
• Experience teaching group classes, ensembles, or camps.
• Experience with online instruction and educational technology.
• Experience working with students with diverse learning needs.
