About the Finance Executive role

The Finance Executive provides hands-on support for SCCFSC's day-to-day finance operations, focusing on accurate transaction processing, reconciliations, records and support for closing, grants, donations and audits. This one-year contract role suits an early-career finance professional seeking practical experience in a social service agency.

Responsibilities:

  • Process accounts payable transactions, including purchase orders, supplier invoices, staff expense claims and payment schedules, ensuring that supporting documents and approvals are complete.
  • Record accounts receivable transactions, receipts and donations accurately, and follow up on routine outstanding items where required.
  • Post general ledger and bank transactions, including accruals and prepayments, in accordance with established policies, procedures and approval limits.
  • Prepare bank reconciliations, account schedules and supporting documents for month-end, year-end closing and year-end audit, and follow up on reconciling items.
  • Maintain accurate fixed-asset, finance and electronic filing records with clear audit trails and appropriate confidentiality.
  • Support management reports, annual budgets, grant claims and funding reports by compiling data and verifying the supporting documents.
  • Update donation records in IRAS portal for tax-deductible receipts, support donor acknowledgement, and prepare routine audit documents and schedules.
  • Support finance system administration and any process improvements and perform other assigned finance duties within the role's responsibility.

Competencies and requirements

  • Diploma in Accounting, Finance, Business or a related discipline; relevant accounting certification may also be considered.
  • Two years of relevant accounting experience, fresh graduates will be considered.
  • Understanding of accounting and bookkeeping principles; exposure to accounts payable, accounts receivable or bank reconciliation is an advantage.
  • Comfortable using Microsoft Excel and learning accounting systems; experience with NetSuite is an advantage but not required.
  • Exposure to charities, social service agencies, non-profit organisations or accounting firms is an advantage.
  • Meticulous and organised, with good numerical accuracy, follow-through and respect for confidentiality.
  • Able to collaborate ,communicate clearly, learn new processes and seek guidance when an issue is outside the role's authority or experience; availability at short notice is an advantage.
