【Job Description】 You will be responsible for the development and evaluation of cutting-edge custom LSI used in our products, including PlayStation. After joining, you will be in charge of specification consideration, functional development, and performance evaluation of the GPU portion within the custom LSI.
【Specifically】 ① LSI Specification Formulation While listening to the requests of product planners, hardware, software, and game developers, you will imagine the "LSI required in a few years (in terms of performance/cost)" and determine the specifications. ② Development and Design You will place orders to LSI vendors and perform collaborative design and development. ③ Verification and Evaluation of Prototype Products You will confirm whether the prototype chips "meet our desired functions" and "can achieve the intended performance." ④ Mass Production Support ※ In specification formulation and verification/evaluation, you will be required to understand Hardware deeply down to a low level, such as cache, memory, and bus, and approach tasks logically. ※ For LSI verification and evaluation, you will develop evaluation/verification tools using C/C++ etc.
In the LSI development department, we conduct highly competitive LSI development in collaboration with many world-class LSI Design Houses, using cutting-edge architectures, IP (CPU, GPU, AI/ML, Codec, high-speed I/F, power control, Security), and semiconductor processes.
We focus on extracting maximum performance at the optimal cost.

【Organization / Workplace Introduction】 We develop the custom LSI that forms the core of SIE products, such as PlayStation 5 and PlayStation VR2. The team consists of experts in a wide range of fields, including LSI architecture, LSI design verification, HW design, and SW development, and we proceed with development through many discussions and considerations every day.

【Required Practical Experience / Skills】 ■ Mandatory (MUST) ・Ability to understand computer architecture and design functions and analyze/evaluate performance based on an understanding of HW structures such as arithmetic units, registers, cache, bus, etc. ・Experience in C/C++ programming development ・Ability to understand and read/write assembler code ・Ability to read English specifications and communicate via email in English
■ Desirable (WANT) ・Knowledge or professional experience regarding Computer Graphics, Ray Tracing, or Machine Learning ・Experience in software performance tuning ・LSI development experience ・Ability to conduct technical conversations and discussions in English
