Commodity Specialist

• Strategy development: Create and execute short-term and long-term commodity strategies, including 'make or buy' decisions.
• Spend and cost analysis: Use data to analyze spending, create cost models, and identify opportunities for cost reduction and negotiation.
• Supplier management: Develop, qualify, and manage a regional supplier base, including conducting supplier performance reviews and risk assessments.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Work with departments such as engineering, planning, quality, and manufacturing to ensure the smooth flow of goods and support new product introductions (NPI).
• Market intelligence: Monitor market conditions, technology trends, and geopolitical factors that could impact the supply of raw materials.
• Contract negotiation: Lead negotiations for contracts with suppliers to secure favorable terms, pricing, and lead times.
• Performance tracking: Track and report on key metrics, such as cost reduction targets, supplier on-time delivery, and quality performance.

SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE:

Bachelor's degree in a relevant field, such as supply chain management, business, or engineering.

• Proven experience in strategic sourcing, supply chain management, and contract negotiation.
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
• Excellent communication and leadership skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across different departments and with international suppliers.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, PowerPoint, Project) and other relevant software.
• Advanced English proficiency is preferred, especially for roles with international suppliers.
• Experience with mechanical commodities, manufacturing processes, or the specific industry (e.g., metals, plastics) is preferred.
