About the position

We are looking for an experienced Accounting Manager to lead our offshore accounting operations in Colombia. In this role, you will oversee day-to-day accounting functions to produce accurate monthly financial statements under US GAAP principles for managed properties.

Reporting directly to the Controller, you will be the primary leader of a structured team of supervisors and staff, providing mentorship, training, and operational guidance. This position requires deep knowledge in real estate accounting, strong mastery of US GAAP, and the ability to collaborate seamlessly with our US-based corporate team.

Key responsibilities

  • Team leadership and mentorship: Mentor, coach, motivate, and train the offshore accounting team in Colombia, supervising supervisors and staff with a strong focus on operational excellence.
  • Month-end close and audits: Coordinate month-end close procedures and support annual audits by providing complete documentation and assisting external auditors.
  • Compliance and controls: Ensure full compliance with US GAAP, regulatory requirements, and internal financial controls.
  • Financial oversight: Review and approve monthly adjusting and accrual journal entries, daily cash transactions, and property acquisitions with meticulous attention to detail.
  • Financial reporting: Prepare and review monthly and quarterly financial statements, partner/client schedules, and fee schedules in accordance with management agreements.
  • Specialized accounting: Oversee lease schedules in compliance with ASC-842 standard requirements and record/reconcile investments in associates under GAAP principles and partnership agreements.
  • Special projects: Handle ad hoc accounting tasks and strategic projects as required.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor's Degree in Accounting.

Experience:

  • More than 5 years of experience in general accounting.
  • Proven experience within the real estate industry, including property-level accounting.
  • More than 3 years of experience in team management and leadership.

Technical skills:

  • Deep understanding of US GAAP, financial processes, and internal controls.
  • Advanced mastery of Excel (handling large datasets and complex calculations).
  • Hands-on experience with ERP systems (such as NetSuite). Familiarity with Yardi.

Language requirements: High level of English proficiency (verbal and written) for fluid communication with US stakeholders.
