Your tasks

Within the group, you will join the Data & IA Hub: the Data & IA competency center for the 26 countries of the SOCOTEC group. The Hub is experiencing strong workforce growth, with projects conducted both internally and for the group's clients.

Integrated into a young team composed of Data Scientists, Data Engineers, ML Engineers, and AI Engineers, you will contribute to the development of the group's internal generative AI platform, used by SOCOTEC employees across all its subsidiaries. This platform provides specialized assistants and agents, connected to the company's business tools and data.

As an intern AI Engineer, you will work on the entire lifecycle of AI features, from design to production:

• Implementation of new features in the group's AI platform: new tools, connectors, workflows, and interfaces made available to users
• Creation of specialized agents meeting concrete business needs (inspection, environment, construction, support functions): design, prompt engineering, tool orchestration, evaluation, and iteration with end users
• Design and optimization of RAG pipelines: document ingestion and splitting, vector and hybrid indexing, retrieval strategies, reranking, management of sources and citations
• Integration of AI into the group's existing platforms: connection to business applications, Microsoft 365, databases, and internal APIs, in connection with development teams
• Implementation of evaluation and observability for LLM systems: test sets, quality metrics, call tracing, cost and latency monitoring
• Industrialization and deployment on AWS, in collaboration with Data Engineers and DevOps teams: containerization, CI/CD, monitoring

You will also choose a technical deep-dive subject related to the platform, for example: advanced RAG techniques (GraphRAG, agentic RAG, multimodal retrieval), multi-agent orchestration, automatic evaluation of LLM systems, or reliable text-to-SQL on business data.

Work will be carried out in close collaboration with the development team, Data Engineers, and business users, with deliverables hosted on an AWS web platform.

Requirements

• Student in the final year of an engineering school or a Master's degree in computer science, AI, or data science
• Very good mastery of Python and software development best practices (tests, code review, git, documentation)
• Knowledge of LLM and its ecosystem: model APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Bedrock…), orchestration frameworks (LangChain, LangGraph or equivalents), vector databases
• First experience, even academic, on a RAG or agentic project
• Familiarity with web APIs (FastAPI), containers (Docker), and a public cloud (ideally AWS) is a plus
• Autonomy, curiosity, sagacity, and real skills in writing and communicating your code
• Professional English: you will interact with international teams (US, UK, ITA, ESP, NL)

This internship is part of a pre-hiring process: interns demonstrating autonomy and technical mastery are regularly offered a CDI (permanent contract) at the end of their internship.
