DB2 z/OS Systems Programmer

Daily tasks

• Install, customize, upgrade, and maintain Db2 for z/OS environments and associated ISV tools from vendors such as IBM, Broadcom, and CA.
• Execute software maintenance using SMP/E across MVS/z/OS environments, applying service updates and version upgrades.
• Administer Db2 access control and security rules using RACF and ACF2 to manage system authorizations and permissions.
• Perform system performance tuning, monitoring, database sizing, and troubleshooting to identify and resolve processing anomalies or system errors.
• Support disaster recovery (DR) strategy and lead functional testing for the tertiary backup environment.
• Maintain JCL, operational utilities, standard operating procedures (SOPs), and technical documentation for mainframe database operations.
• Provide ongoing operations support and collaborate with Service Centers and business teams to handle incident escalations, resolutions, and reporting.

Requirements

Hands-on experience in installation, customization, and maintenance of Db2 for z/OS and SMP/E within an MVS/z/OS environment. Deep understanding of relational database concepts, IBM utilities, JCL, access methods, file structures, and Db2 monitoring tools. Practical experience implementing RACF or ACF2 Db2 security authorization models and executing Disaster Recovery (DR) protocols. High proficiency with ecosystem tools and ISV software from IBM, Broadcom, and Computer Associates (CA). Experience participating in large-scale complex projects to design and implement mainframe database solutions. Excellent root-cause analysis skills paired with strong written and spoken English communication skills. Prior experience in banking, financial services, or enterprise commercial environments is highly preferred.
