Embedded Software Control Engineer - Railway (M/F)
Job Description:
Within the Railway Production IS Steering Hub of the Railway Operations Department of the Hexafret Digital Directorate, the Digital Services and Technical Improvement Manager operates within the scope of the Hexafret Railway Production Information System. This IS covers the business processes of train production, the Transport Plan, the management of slot resources, traction units, wagons, ground staff, and driving staff.
He works towards technical simplification, code quality improvement, architecture optimization, and the progressive implementation of a service-oriented architecture (SOA). His role is to dive into the heart of the system: he handles complex investigations in databases, analyzes, and intervenes directly on the Railway Production IS code. He is also the technical driver for evolutions requested by the business, with a strong responsibility on the international aspect concerning interfaces and data exchanges with other Railway Companies (EF). He conducts in-depth inquiries and investigations in the Railway Production IS databases using relevant software (SQL, Oracle, Java). He reads, analyzes, and debugs the Railway Production IS source code. He participates in the continuous improvement of the Railway Production IS through code quality improvement and technical simplification He manages data management within his services.
In the Stations module of the Railway Production IS, he takes charge, as a primary lead or backup depending on the parts of this module, of the Digital Services Manager missions in RUN and BUILD within the framework given by the Railway Production IS Steering Hub Manager. He responds to the needs of his client directorates, ensures the quality and availability of the module, while managing and optimizing the necessary resources. He guarantees the delivery of his evolutions, the operational quality of the module in production, user satisfaction, and compliance with cybersecurity and accessibility standards.
Particularly, he handles the development and integration of business evolutions. He designs and maintains international data exchanges with other railway companies (technical implementation of TSI TAF/TAP standards, HERMES messages, etc.). He translates requests into functional and technical specifications. He ensures cross-functional functional and technical communication.
Profile Description:
Education
Master's degree (engineering school, computer science, or equivalent)
Experience
2 to 5 years in digital services development
Aptitudes and Skills Strong expertise in software development and complex database querying. Knowledge of IT practices and technical subjects (technologies, architecture, design, etc.). Teamwork, interpersonal skills, autonomy, adaptability, rigor, organizational skills, customer service orientation, communication, analysis, and synthesis.
Technical Skills Good mastery of the Java language and the ability to read, understand, analyze, and debug existing code. Knowledge of architecture and the Swing framework for the maintenance and evolution of heavy client applications. Mastery of relational databases (Oracle, advanced SQL, query optimization, data analysis). Understanding of service architectures and data exchanges (API, XML, JSON, SOA, inter-applicative interfaces). Experience with versioning and collaborative development tools (Git, GitLab or equivalent). Knowledge of modern web technologies; mastery of Angular is an appreciated asset. Mastery of AI-based development assistance tools (GitHub Copilot, Cursor, OpenCode or equivalents). Ability to use these tools to accelerate code analysis, technical investigations, and specification writing. Ability to maintain a critical eye on AI-generated proposals and validate their technical relevance.
