Motor Vehicle Operator Leader
The Smithsonian Institution is the world's largest museum, education, and research complex, with 21 museums and the National Zoo. This position is located in one of the SI facilities serviced by the Office of Facilities Management (FM), Smithsonian Institution (SI). The Office of Facilities Management is responsible for all Smithsonian facilities, many of which are designated as historic and all of which are visited by millions of people each year
Major duties
The Motor Vehicle Operator Leader assists with work schedules and leading the activities of the Motor Vehicle Operators and Engineering Equipment Operators assigned to three geographical locations Pennsy Facility, Landover, MD, Garber Facility, Suitland, MD and National Zoological Park, Washington, DC. In this position, you will: Determine priorities and schedules, plan work schedules and sequence of operations for subordinates and establishes deadlines and priorities. Develop and evaluate Shuttle Service Schedules, maintains a utilization of assigned mobile assets, prepares monthly status reports to the supervisor, and performs management analyses of the cost and efficiency of service and manpower requirements. Assist in the preparation of reports regarding production, equipment, material and maintenance required, and personnel management. Maintain record keeping for vehicle and heavy equipment inventory.

Requirements
Conditions of Employment Physical Requirements: This position requires the physical ability to perform moderately heavy work including lifting and carrying heavy objects up to 50 lbs.; work outside in all weather conditions with exposure to dirt, dust, pollen and insects; climb ladders and stairs; and stand and walk for extended periods. Additional Conditions of Employment Candidate must pass a pre-screening Drug Testing. Candidate must have a CDL License Class – B with P Endorsement. (Candidate must submit a photocopy of CDL License, front and rear) Candidate must meet medical requirements. Candidate must have and maintain a clean driving record, to include no major or serious violations as defined by the respective state. Candidate must wear employer-issued clothing as designated. Candidate may be required to work late shifts, weekends and holidays and is subject to being called in for emergencies to restore the Smithsonian Institution to normal operations. Intermittent travel is required.
