Job description
✈️ About Smart Freight Centre Are you passionate about reducing the climate impacts of transport, freight, and logistics?
Would you like to work alongside some of the world’s largest companies, NGOs, and industry leaders to help drive the transition towards a decarbonized freight sector?
Smart Freight Centre is a globally active non-profit organization driving climate action within the freight and logistics sector.
We are enablers for organizations that believe in collaborative action to reduce logistics greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions. SFC brings together multinational corporations, freight forwarders, carriers, NGOs, technology providers, and governments through collaborative initiatives, training programs, and global partnerships.
Together, we help organizations solve business challenges related to freight emissions measurement, reporting, and reduction.
Our ambition is to guide industry efforts to reduce freight emissions by one billion tonnes by 2030 and support the transition towards zero-emission logistics by 2050 or earlier.

The role focuses on estimating energy demand, assessing grid readiness, and supporting deployment planning for charging infrastructure and renewable integration.
You will contribute to translating analysis into implementation-ready outputs for large-scale deployment. You will work closely with the India ED, SFC CEO, and Technical, and Research, Communications and BD teams. ✏️ What You Will Own
1. Freight Electrification & Corridor System Design
• Analyse freight flows and identify high-potential use cases for electrification
• Support development of corridor and cluster-based deployment strategies, including demand aggregation approaches
• Translate operational freight data into scalable and implementation-ready electrification plans
• Support demand aggregation and corridor development by working closely with shippers, LSPs, OEMs, and infrastructure partners to align technical design with real deployment needs
• Support on Port drayage freight electrification
2. Energy Demand & Charging Load Modelling
• Estimate energy demand (MWh) and peak load (MW) for EV charging
• Assess grid readiness at feeder and substation level
• Identify: Network constraints, Infrastructure upgrade requirements and Load concentration risks
• Evaluate integration of renewable energy and storage systems
• Analyse: Peak load management, Load shifting opportunities, Grid and cost implications
• Support development of utility-aligned planning insights, including implications for tariffs, load growth, and grid investment
3. Modelling & Analytical Support
• Build data-driven models for: Demand estimation, Load profiling and Scenario analysis
• Develop temporal load curves based on charging behaviour and freight operations
• Conduct scenario and sensitivity analysis across: Demand growth, Tariff structures and Infrastructure utilisation
• Support techno-commercial assessments, linking operations, energy, and cost
• Work with real-world and evolving datasets, translating them into structured insights for decision-making
4. Research, Knowledge Development & Program Delivery
Contribute to development of:
o Technical reports and research papers
o Policy briefs and whitepapers
• Translate analysis into clear, decision-oriented insights
• Support delivery of corridor and electrification programs
• Engage with: Utilities, Industry stakeholders and Infrastructure providers
