Senior Software Engineer (Ruby on Rails & .NET)
We are innovating logistics and we have achieved this thanks to a team of visionary people, eager to grow and change the world.
At Skydropx, you will find a space to develop your career within a dynamic, ambitious, and multicultural work environment.
As a Senior Node.JS & Rust Developer, you will have the opportunity to technically lead the design and development of services that drive our software products, collaborating closely with other developers, architects, and the product team. You will be responsible for making high-impact architectural decisions, defining technical standards, and guiding the team in the adoption of modern development methodologies. You will analyze complex needs to design scalable solutions that integrate with our architecture and operating environment, as well as driving the technical evolution of our products and services.
At Skydropx, AI is a central part of how we build our product. We believe that AI and humans do their jobs better when each does what they do best: we leave the repetitive tasks and what scales poorly with human effort to AI, and we leave the decisions that require judgment and responsibility to people. Although this is a platform engineering role, you will collaborate closely with AI systems and must be comfortable working in that ecosystem.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Lead the design and development of new features and critical improvements for our products and services, ensuring security, performance, and test coverage.
- Make architectural decisions and propose technical improvements at the system level.
- Design and implement high-performance components in Rust when efficiency, concurrency, or memory safety requirements demand it.
- Write and review detailed technical documentation, as well as RFCs and design proposals.
- Resolve technical problems of high complexity and scope, including debugging distributed systems in production.
- Define and guarantee standards for code quality, maintainability, and best practices at the team level.
- Provide mentorship to Junior and Mid-level Engineers, helping them grow technically and removing obstacles to their autonomy.
- Lead demanding yet constructive code reviews, raising the technical level of the team.
- Autonomously launch large-scale features and improvements, coordinating with other teams when necessary.
- Actively participate in technical planning and in defining the engineering roadmap.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Indispensable: English B2 or higher.
- +6 years of experience in software design and development of Rack applications with Node.JS
- Professional experience with Rust in production environments (services, system tools, high-performance components, or similar).
- Solid experience with JavaScript and modern frontend ecosystems.
- Proven experience designing and building microservices and APIs.
- Deep knowledge of software engineering and best practices for the full development lifecycle (coding standards, code reviews, version control, CI/CD, testing, and operations).
- Hands-on experience designing and deploying large-scale distributed systems and high-availability client-server architectures.
- Demonstrated ability to lead technically, mentor other engineers, and communicate complex ideas to technical and non-technical audiences.
- Experience making trade-off decisions between languages and technologies based on problem requirements (for example, when to use Rust).
- To consider:
- Previous experience working with GCP (or other cloud providers like AWS or Azure).
- Experience with Kafka (or other similar technologies) in event-driven systems.
- Experience with containerization and orchestration tools (Docker, Kubernetes).
- Deep knowledge of algorithms, data structures, and complexity analysis.
- Experience with concurrent and asynchronous programming (Tokio, async/await in Rust).
- Contributions to open source projects, especially in the Node.JS or Rust ecosystem.
- Experience with observability (tracing, metrics, structured logging).
WE OFFER:
- Regional mission: ensuring LATAM businesses can stop worrying about their logistics.
