WELDING ENGINEER M/F
RESPONSIBILITIES:
You will intervene to guarantee the quality and compliance of welding operations in the nuclear industrial environment, from the design of operating procedures to the execution and inspection of assemblies, on components subject to some of the strictest safety and traceability requirements in the industry. Welding studies and preparation
- Analyze the technical feasibility of welding operations with respect to drawings, materials, and specification requirements.
- Write and qualify Welding Procedure Specifications (WPS) and Procedure Qualification Records (PQR).
- Define welding parameters, the choice of consumables, and associated heat treatments (preheating, post-heating).
- Establish technical references and work instructions in compliance with the RCC-M code and standards applicable to nuclear.
Supervision and management of operations
- Supervise and provide technical support to welding teams and operators in the workshop or on-site.
- Ensure the monitoring and coordination of welding projects while respecting deadlines, safety, and quality requirements.
- Participate in kick-off and manufacturing follow-up meetings with methods, production, and quality teams.
Quality control and compliance
- Guarantee the compliance of welds with nuclear regulatory requirements (ESPN, RCC-M, ASME codes depending on the projects).
- Supervise and interpret non-destructive testing (NDT): penetrant testing, magnetic particle testing, radiography, ultrasonic testing.
- Analyze non-conformities, lead corrective actions, and capitalize on feedback/lessons learned.
- Compile and maintain technical execution documentation (welding dossiers, qualification reports, material traceability).
Technical interface and continuous improvement
- Act as the primary technical contact for clients, inspection bodies, and the safety authority on welding matters.
- Participate in design reviews and cross-functional technical committees.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of processes (productivity, quality, reduction of non-conformities) and to regulatory and technological monitoring.
REQUIRED PROFILE:
You hold a degree as a Generalist Engineer or a Specialized Engineer (mechanical, materials, welding), ideally supplemented by a specialization from the École Supérieure du Soudage (Institut de Soudure) or an IWE (International Welding Engineer) certification. You have a minimum of 3 to 5 years of experience in industrial welding, ideally acquired in an environment with high regulatory requirements (nuclear, ESPN, petrochemical, aeronautics). Expected complementary skills:
- Mastery of industrial welding processes (TIG, MIG/MAG, submerged arc, shielded metal arc) and metallic materials (low-alloy steels, stainless steel, nickel-based alloys).
- In-depth knowledge of nuclear normative frameworks: RCC-M, EN ISO 3834, EN ISO 15614, ASME codes.
- IWE (International Welding Engineer) certification or equivalent is highly appreciated.
- Mastery of non-destructive testing (NDT) techniques and their interpretation.
- Good practice with CAD tools (Catia, AutoCAD, SolidWorks).
- Fluent technical English, both written and spoken.
