DESCRIPTION

Our client is a plastics processing industrialist, long-established in Loire-Atlantique and backed by a European industrial group. They design and manufacture technical parts intended for numerous industrial markets.

Their materials activity has become decisive for their competitiveness, the security of their supplies, and the anticipation of regulatory evolutions (recycling, circular economy, PPWR). To structure and professionalize it, they are creating a Materials Manager position, reporting to the Management.

This is not a production, warehouse, or stock management manager position, but a materials expert, with a strong field presence, capable of transforming a new or unknown material into an industrializable, documented, and controlled material.

Your main missions:

  • Manage daily materials activity (preparation, grinding, micronization): mastery of process parameters, reliability of settings, operating standards, safety / quality / cost / lead time / energy performance;
  • Provide technical expertise on polymers: qualification of new grades, formulations or suppliers, analysis of material behavior, testing and industrialization recommendations;
  • Work in close link with purchasing and suppliers to evaluate and secure new sources of supply, and build a materials database;
  • Ensure the reliability of material consumption in the ERP and exploit data (ERP, Power BI) to analyze variances, yields and trends;
  • Structure stock management, lot traceability, as well as the management of scrap, recycled material and the circular economy;
  • Monitor regulatory evolutions and anticipate their impacts;
  • Manage the operating account and the budget for the scope, and identify economic and energy performance levers;
  • Develop team skills (operating procedures, best practices, materials culture).

Conditions and benefits

  • CDI - Full time - Executive status (Plasturgie collective agreement)
  • Position based in Loire-Atlantique (44), Saint-Nazaire area, with a strong field dimension
  • Remuneration: 50 to 55 K€ gross annual on 13 months, depending on profile and experience
  • New position creation, taking office as soon as possible

SEARCHED PROFILE

With a degree from Bac +2 to Bac +5 in plasturgie, polymer materials, process engineering or industrial engineering (significant industrial experience can compensate for the level of degree), you have proven experience in polymer processing. Ideally, you are comfortable with extrusion, compounding, micronization, grinding, plastic powders, recycling or material preparation.

You have a good knowledge of polymers (PE, PP, PA or other technical materials) and associated processes, and know how to analyze a material, process, stock or consumption drift. You master monitoring tools (Excel, ERP, Power BI, test sheets) and understand material declaration flows in an ERP. Good command of English is expected, as the position involves exchanges with international interlocutors.

Recognized for your field orientation, your rigor and your autonomy, you know how to structure an activity that is still poorly formalized, work with multiple departments (production, purchasing, quality, design office, finance) and bridge the gap between the field, the data and the economic stakes. You also know how to say no when a material, a data point or a process is not sufficiently controlled. Do you wish to take responsibility for a strategic materials activity and contribute to its structuring? This position is made for you.
