- CAD & Modeling: Create detailed 3D models and 2D technical drawings using software like SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CATIA.
- Analysis & Calculations: Perform structural, thermal, stress, finite element analysis (FEA), and tolerance stack-up/GD&T calculations.
- Prototyping & Testing: Build and test physical or virtual prototypes, evaluate performance data, and lead failure analysis.
- Material & Process Selection: Choose appropriate metals, plastics, or composites alongside manufacturing methods (machining, molding, casting).
- Cross-Functional Collaboration: Work alongside electrical engineers, suppliers, and production teams to ensure designs are cost-effective and manufacturable.
- Documentation: Write operation manuals, bill of materials (BOM), engineering change notices (ECN), and compliance report
