About the Job
We are partnered with a construction firm specializing in OSHPD/HCAI-regulated healthcare facility projects on the search for an OSHPD/HCAI Superintendent. This role provides hands-on, on-site supervision and management of construction work across all trades and vendors, ensuring projects are delivered to the company's standards for quality, safety, and schedule.
Communication, team building, problem-solving, and leadership are core to this role. The position may require travel up to 50% of the time, along with night and weekend work as project schedules require.
The Mandate
This organization is clear about what it is—and is not—seeking.
They are not looking for someone who simply manages a schedule from a trailer.
They are seeking a hands-on superintendent: someone who can build trust with inspectors and subcontractors on-site, hold every trade accountable to OSHPD/HCAI compliance, and step in to self-perform work when needed to keep a project moving.
Key Responsibilities
Coordinate and manage construction activity across subcontractors, ensuring a clear understanding of drawings and project scope
Communicate scheduling and coordinate across trades to maintain a consistent, productive workflow
Manage the schedule to meet client completion dates, generating and publishing weekly three-week look-aheads to subcontractors and the Project Manager
Assure construction is completed in compliance with contract drawings and OSHPD/HCAI requirements
Build strong, trust-based relationships with the IOR and city inspectors; verify work is complete and compliant prior to scheduling inspections
Manage the on-site safety program, including weekly safety meetings and daily safety checklists
Maintain timely, accurate job-site documentation (daily reports, conversation reports, RFIs, safety meeting minutes, and MS Project schedules)
Supervise project completion and close-out, including timely punch list completion, to meet schedule requirements
Maintain a professional attitude and demeanor at all times
Ideal Profile
5+ years of verifiable Commercial Superintendent experience, including 3+ years of OSHPD 3 experience
3+ verifiable client references
Ability to create and maintain a three-week look-ahead using Microsoft Project
Proficient with AutoDesk, Bluebeam, Microsoft Word, Excel, Project, and Outlook
Dynamic leader with exceptional organizational and communication skills (oral and written)
Willing to perform self-perform work (framing, drywall, etc.) when required
High school diploma required; college degree preferred but not required
Valid California driver's license with a clean driving record
Willing and able to work nights and weekends as required, and to travel up to 50% of the time
Location & Work Model
Based out of Northern California (San Jose)
Field-based role with regular presence on active construction job sites, including required PPE and varied indoor/outdoor site conditions
Final candidates are subject to a fitness-for-duty test, drug screen, motor vehicle report, and criminal background check
Compensation
Base salary: $175,000 - $200,000
Final compensation commensurate with experience
