About the Role

We are hiring for an Electronics Engineering who will be working with an innovative technology business developing advanced sensing and measurement systems for industrial and scientific applications. This is a hands-on product development role where you will be involved across the full electronics development lifecycle - from requirements and circuit design through to PCB layout, manufacture, integration, testing and validation. You'll work closely with software, optics and mechanical engineers to develop sophisticated hardware solutions, with the opportunity to have a genuine influence on the development of next-generation products.

Key Responsibilities

  • Specify, design, verify and validate PCBs used within advanced sensing and measurement products.
  • Develop analogue and digital electronic circuits, including analogue signal pre-processing and digital interfaces.
  • Produce and maintain electronic design documentation, schematics and PCB design data.
  • Design and document cables, wiring and associated electrical assemblies.
  • Manage PCB fabrication and assembly through external manufacturing suppliers.
  • Build, test and debug prototype and production electronic hardware.
  • Support hardware integration and system-level testing.
  • Integrate third-party electronic devices and components into wider product systems.
  • Work closely with software, optics and mechanical engineering teams to deliver integrated solutions.
  • Maintain version-controlled engineering and design data.
  • Contribute to design verification, validation and continuous improvement of existing products.
  • Support product development from initial concept through to manufacture and deployment.

About You

We're looking for an experienced Electronics Engineer who enjoys working across both the design and practical implementation of electronic hardware. You will ideally have:

  • A **2:1 or above degree in Electronic Engineering or a closely related physical science/engineering discipline.
  • At least 4 years' professional experience in electronics design and development.
  • Strong experience with PCB design and layout.
  • Good knowledge of analogue or mixed-signal electronics.
  • Experience taking electronic designs through manufacture and testing.
  • Strong schematic capture and circuit design experience.
  • Experience debugging and testing electronic hardware.
  • An organised and methodical approach to engineering documentation and design control.
  • Experience working with a distributed version control system such as Git or Mercurial.
  • The ability to work effectively within a small, multidisciplinary engineering team.
  • A self-starting approach and the ability to take ownership of technical problems.

Desirable Experience

Experience in any of the following would be advantageous:

  • FPGA development and Verilog.
  • Xilinx Vivado.
  • Microcontroller programming using C/C++.
  • Python scripting.
  • USB2 or CANbus interfaces.
  • EMC testing and product compliance.
  • CE marking and product safety.
  • KiCAD or similar PCB design software.
  • Scientific instrumentation, sensors, measurement systems or other complex electronic products.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an Electronics Engineer who wants to work on technically interesting products within a highly collaborative environment. You'll have the opportunity to work across the complete hardware development process rather than being restricted to one area of electronics, with plenty of scope to influence product design and contribute to the development of advanced technology.
