Job Summary

Join Shin Katsu as an Assistant Chef and support our kitchen operations in preparing authentic Tonkatsu and Japanese dishes. You will play an important role in maintaining our standards of food quality, consistency and presentation in a fast-paced restaurant environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assist the Chef in managing daily kitchen operations and ensuring a smooth workflow.
  • Prepare and cook Tonkatsu and other Japanese dishes according to Shin Katsu's recipes and quality standards.
  • Handle meat preparation, breading, deep-frying and plating to ensure consistent taste and presentation.
  • Maintain high standards of food hygiene, cleanliness and kitchen safety in compliance with regulations.
  • Support food preparation, including mise en place and stock management, to ensure efficient kitchen operations.
  • Train and guide junior kitchen team members to maintain cooking standards and effective teamwork.
  • Assist with the development of new menu itemsand conduct dish trials when required.
  • Work efficiently under pressure in a fast-pacedrestaurant environment to meet service demands.
  • Demonstrate a strong sense of responsibility,work ethic and teamwork.
  • Be prepared to work shifts, weekends and publicholidays according to operational requirements.

Preferred Competencies & Qualifications

  • Minimum 8–10 years of relevant kitchenexperience.
  • Previous experience working in a Tonkatsurestaurant is strongly preferred.
  • Hands-on experience in Tonkatsu preparation,including breading and deep-frying techniques, will be an advantage.
  • Experience in Japanese cuisine and kitchenoperations is preferred.
  • Good understanding of food hygiene and kitchensafety practices.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment tofood quality.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Able to work independently and effectively in a fast-paced kitchen environment.
