The role

The successful candidate will be passionate about sociology and committed to delivering engaging, challenging, and academically rigorous lessons. The ability to teach psychology would be advantageous, although this is not essential.

We are looking for a teacher who can inspire students to think critically about society, culture, identity, inequality, and contemporary global issues, whilst developing the analytical and evaluative skills required for examination success.

Key responsibilities:

Ability to teach sociology from Key Stage 3 to A Level

Provide outstanding teaching and learning and deliver engaging and academically rigorous lessons

Contribute positively to the wider life of the school

Have strong organisational and interpersonal skills

Play an active role in a dynamic and collaborative faculty

Demonstrate excellent subject knowledge and a passion for their discipline

Be committed to high standards of teaching and learning

Have the ability to build positive relationships with students, parents, and colleagues

Contribute to the wider life of the school through enrichment, clubs, trips, or extracurricular activities

Qualifications and experience

Essential:

A certified teaching qualification (e.g., B.Ed, PGCE, PGDE or equivalent) from a UK university

A degree relevant to the subject

Experience teaching sociology in a British curriculum school

Strong subject knowledge and classroom management skills

High levels of motivation, professionalism, and adaptability

Ability to teach sociology to A-Level

Desirable:

Ability to teach psychology

Proven experience teaching in the UK
