Quantity Surveyor
(Construction) Job Description & Responsibilities Prepare and manage project cost estimates, budgets, tender documents, and Bills of Quantities (BQ).
Carry out quantity take-offs and measurements based on construction drawings, specifications, and site conditions.
Prepare tender submissions, quotations, cost comparisons, and tender evaluations.
Source quotations from suppliers and subcontractors, evaluate pricing, and negotiate competitive rates.
Prepare and administer subcontractor agreements, purchase orders, and contractual documentation.
Monitor project costs, expenditures, and budgets to ensure cost efficiency and profitability.
Prepare monthly progress claims, payment applications, variation orders (VO), and final accounts.
Verify and evaluate subcontractors' progress claims, payment certificates, and final account submissions.
Identify, evaluate, and substantiate variation works, additional costs, and contractual claims.
Coordinate with project managers, site engineers, consultants, clients, and subcontractors on commercial and contractual matters.
Maintain accurate records of project costs, measurements, contractual correspondence, and supporting documents.
Attend site meetings, progress meetings, and commercial discussions when required.
Assist in procurement planning, material cost control, and subcontractor management.
Monitor project cash flow, prepare cost reports, and highlight potential cost overruns.
Ensure compliance with contractual requirements, company procedures, and relevant Singapore construction industry practices.
Perform other quantity surveying and project-related duties assigned by management.
Job Requirements Diploma or Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Building Construction, Construction Management, or a related discipline.
Minimum 3 years of relevant working experience in Singapore's construction industry is preferred.
Experience in building construction, structural works, architectural works, or general construction projects.
Good knowledge of construction drawings, specifications, measurement methods, and Bills of Quantities.
Experience in tender preparation, cost estimation, procurement, progress claims, variation orders, and final accounts.
Familiarity with Singapore construction contracts and industry practices, including SIA and PSSCOC contracts, is an advantage.
Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and AutoCAD.
Knowledge of quantity surveying software or BIM measurement tools is an added advantage.
Good negotiation, communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
Able to work independently, manage multiple projects, and meet tight deadlines.
Strong attention to detail, commercial awareness, and cost-control capabilities.
Able to coordinate effectively with project teams, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors.
Preferred Qualifications Experience working with main contractors or established subcontractors in Singapore.
Familiarity with reinforced concrete, formwork, structural, and architectural works.
Experience in both pre-contract and post-contract quantity surveying.
Strong knowledge of subcontractor procurement, contract administration, and project cost management.
Ability to handle multiple ongoing construction projects independently.
