Assistant Manager, Strategic Programmes (Internationalisation)
Key Role
You will play a pivotal role in driving the internationalisation initiatives for Tech SME and start-ups. You will need to have a good appreciation of the tech industry ecosystem and formulate strategies, and implementation plans to help Singapore Tech companies to gain foothold in new global markets.
Key Responsibilities
- Market Development
- Identify and analyse overseas markets with potential for local tech SMEs and start-ups.
- Develop and implement market entry strategies to support international expansion.
- Design initiatives to enhance the global competitiveness of Singapore tech companies.
- Programme and Account Management
- Lead and manage internationalisation programmes, including planning, execution, and performance tracking.
- Monitor KPIs and ensure programmes are aligned with strategic objectives.
- Support companies in processing government grant applications and claims.
- Drive outreach and recruitment efforts for programme participation.
- Global Tech Partner Engagement
- Work closely with trade and investment agencies, entrepreneurs, start-up founders, and industry partners to identify market opportunities and business challenges.
- Facilitate collaborations to co-develop solutions and projects that address these challenges.
- Develop and manage a global tech network portal and onboard partners including Trade Associations and Chambers (TACs).
- Communications and Outreach
- Collaborate with the marketing team to develop A&P materials for promoting initiatives and events.
- Support publicity efforts including press releases, editorial content, website updates, and newsletters.
- Financial Performance and P&L Management
- Support the Supervisor in monitoring the financial performance and P&L of internationalisation programmes against approved budgets, forecasts, and targets.
- Assist in the development and maintenance of programme budgets, financial forecasts, and key financial performance indicators (KPIs).
- Support efforts to optimise programme costs, improve resource utilisation, and identify opportunities for revenue generation and financial sustainability.
- Coordinate with relevant internal teams to ensure accurate financial reporting, timely budget monitoring, and compliance with financial policies and procedures.
- Provide financial insights and analysis to support programme planning, prioritisation, and decision-making.
- Grant Administration and Compliance
- Manage administrative tasks related to LEAD grant applications, including:
- Preparation and submission of proposals and supporting documents.
- Coordination of reporting, milestone tracking, and budget reconciliation.
- Liaison with funding agencies to ensure compliance with grant conditions.
- Oversee documentation and audit processes to maintain transparency and accountability.
- Stakeholder Engagement and Ecosystem Development
- Build and maintain strong relationships with international partners, government agencies, trade associations, and innovation hubs.
- Represent the organisation at global events, trade missions, and conferences.
- Facilitate knowledge exchange and ecosystem development through strategic partnerships.
- Support the Supervisor in establishing and maintaining a structured weekly engagement cadence with project partners to ensure alignment on priorities, deliverables, and timelines.
- Coordinate weekly meetings, including agenda-setting, preparation of discussion materials, and consolidation of updates from relevant stakeholders.
- Track project progress, key milestones, deliverables, and outstanding actions, ensuring timely follow-up and closure.
- Reporting and Continuous Improvement
- Prepare reports, proposals, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders.
- Conduct post-programme evaluations and implement improvements based on feedback and performance metrics.
- Ensure compliance with organisational policies, funding requirements, and international standards.
- Ad hoc Support – Inbound Delegations
- Support the assessment and evaluation of inbound delegation requests, including reviewing objectives, profiles, relevance, and potential value to the organisation.
- Coordinate meeting requests and engagements between inbound delegations and relevant SGTech and chapter representatives.
- Facilitate internal coordination and stakeholder alignment to ensure appropriate representation and effective engagement.
Qualifications and Skills Requirements
- Experience : At least 3 years of relevant experience in international business development, programme management, or ecosystem building, preferably within the tech or innovation sector.
- Grants Management : Proven experience in managing government grants, particularly LEAD or similar funding schemes, including documentation, claims processing, and audits.
- Financial Acumen : Strong background in financial planning, budgeting, and P&L management.
- Analytical Skills : Able to conduct market research and analyse business issues to support strategic decision-making.
- Attention to Detail : Meticulous in handling documentation and ensuring accuracy in claims and programme implementation.
- Project Management : Excellent time management and organisational skills, with the ability to manage multiple projects and stakeholders simultaneously.
- Communication: Strong written and verbal communication skills. Ability to prepare clear reports, proposals, and outreach materials.
- Business Acumen : Good understanding of business dynamics and the tech ecosystem, with a proactive and resourceful approach.
- Personal Attributes : Independent, self-motivated, and able to work effectively in a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in business, International Relations, Marketing, Technology, or a related field.
