Perform operational inspection and/or auditing activities, including those requiring a specialized technical degree of knowledge, in accordance with the procedures and/or instructions received to determine the results of the client's request.
Specific Responsibilities
a. Responsibilities
- Perform inspections while preserving impartiality and ethics in reports.
- Ensure the proper handling of all equipment under their charge and timely notify any detected damage or malfunction.
- Guarantee the good condition of assigned equipment, avoiding deterioration due to misuse.
- Verify that assigned equipment is verified or calibrated according to its identification.
- Ensure the execution of instructions given by the immediate supervisor regarding the type of service requested by clients, gathering all possible necessary information for the preparation of the final report.
- Ensure the preparation and review of all documents, elements, and/or basic tools necessary to perform the assigned task.
- Ensure contact with the client and/or their agent/representative to verify the data received as preliminary information for the work to be performed.
- Actively participate in both internal and external audits, whether scheduled or unannounced.
- Ensure timely information is provided to their immediate supervisor regarding any non-conforming product in their process or client complaints and/or claims; participate and propose involvement in the process of identification and implementation of corrective, preventive, and improvement actions, as well as risks associated with the process.
- Other duties as assigned, inherent to the position.
b. Obligations
- Guarantee assigned work at facilities and/or aboard vessels and/or at maritime terminals, based on the technical standards in force for each specific type of inspection.
- Ensure constant information regarding the progress of the inspection is provided to their immediate supervisor via telephone, radio, or any means available.
- Guarantee sound judgment in decisions made at the worksite and related to it.
- Ensure that the issued report contains all necessary information regarding the inspection performed.
- Guarantee compliance with safety standards, technical, operational, administrative, and quality procedures applicable according to the standards of the SGS Colombia company and the client in the work area.
- Guarantee the truthful, fast, and timely delivery of necessary information to operational assistants for the preparation of the corresponding certificates and/or reports.
- Implement, maintain, and improve the laboratory management system; identifying deviations from the system or from the procedures for performing activities, and initiating actions to prevent or minimize such deviations.
Academic Background: Technician, technologist, or Professional who proves knowledge in the activities to be developed.
Experience: Minimum of two (2) years in positions in the area of inspection and measurement of hydrocarbons and chemical products, and/or in the maritime area and/or maritime operations, ports, and/or crude oil and petroleum derivatives terminals.
Technical Knowledge: Specific to the sector, including inspection and measurement of hydrocarbons and chemical products. Fundamentals in management systems, knowledge in: metrology, statistics, measurement uncertainty, quality assurance, office tools (Word, Excel, ppt), when requirements against current client needs apply.
Languages: Knowledge of technical English.
