The Purchasing Agent is responsible for acquiring requirements by location and verifying, preparing, and sending purchase orders; communicating with Suppliers and validating the receipt of items/services and resolving payment issues. Specific Responsibilities Always complies with the SGS Code of Integrity and Professional Conduct. Verifies material/service needs by location and creates requests using the best price and supplier, clarifying unclear items and recommending alternatives. Search for available products to find the best combination of quality, price, and delivery. Follow up on purchase orders by verifying the product/service, the estimated time of arrival, and the price; obtain recommendations from suppliers regarding substitute items and perform cross-checks with the specified department. Schedule optimal delivery and monitor and expedite orders when necessary. Verify the receipt of items by comparing received items with orders; resolve shipping blocks and errors with suppliers and/or the carrier. Verify the invoice and payment with suppliers and cross-functional teams. Create purchase orders based on supplier invoices. Fulfill the purchasing and organizational mission by completing desired results as necessary. Collect, analyze, and summarize data and trends. Maintain detailed and accurate information accessible in Sharepoint for management. Participate and update job knowledge through participation in educational opportunities. Participates in special projects, other tasks, or professional training, education, or development as necessary. Fosters trust by responding promptly to all inquiries, whether by telephone or email. Promotes a positive attitude and a safe work environment. Know and comply with SGS procedures and standards; comply with all SGS regulations. Adopts and supports specific operational improvement activities communicated by the GBS team leader, supervisor, or manager. These projects will focus on improving quality, efficiency, accreditation, communication, and technical improvement. Ensures that the GBS work area is always kept clean and presentable.
A university degree or equivalent is required. A B2+ English level is required, with good oral and written communication skills to work effectively and collaborate internally. 3 to 5 years of experience in purchasing are required. 2+ years of experience in accounts payable are preferred; knowledge of the functioning and processes of the Oracle accounts payable system will be valued. Proficiency in Microsoft Office. Good organizational skills and the ability to multitask in a fast-paced environment. Great leadership capacity, initiative, resourcefulness, excellent problem-solving and time management skills; ability to meet deadlines. Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety standards, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Active listening skills and excellent customer service skills. Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one situations and in small groups to organization employees. Substantial movements (movement) of the wrist, hands, and/or fingers repetitively. Must have great analytical and mathematical capacity and pay attention to detail. Ability to work under pressure with daily deadlines. Excellent communication skills and professional attitude with suppliers and stakeholders. Effective skills for establishing relationships and coordinating with multiple locations, management, and suppliers as necessary. Schedule: Monday to Friday Modality: On-site Salary: 6,000,000 COP Contract with temporary for the first 6 months, subsequently moving directly to SGS with an indefinite term.
