Linux System Administrator / Platform Engineer – HPC & VDI
We are looking for an experienced Linux System Administrator / Platform Engineer with a strong focus on automation, architecture, and platform development. You will participate in designing, building, and further developing an advanced Remote Desktop/VDI environment for high-performance computing.
The platform is used for GPU-accelerated remote desktops that support both pre- and post-processing of HPC workloads, including automotive simulations, visualization, and rendering.
The environment is based on Rocky Linux/RHEL, X11, and Xfce4, as well as technologies such as NICE DCV, EF Portal (EnginFrame), and SLURM.
Responsibilities
Design, implement, and maintain a Linux-based, GPU-accelerated Remote Desktop/VDI environment.
Work with NICE DCV, EnginFrame, SLURM, X11, and Xfce4 on Rocky Linux.
Develop automation and Infrastructure-as-Code (IaC), primarily with Ansible.
Ensure high security, scalability, performance, and long-term maintainability.
Collaborate closely with teams within HPC and Infrastructure Engineering.
Document architecture, configurations, deployment flows, and operational routines.
Take overall responsibility for the platform's development and operation.
We are looking for someone who has
Solid experience as a Linux System Administrator, preferably within Rocky Linux or RHEL.
Strong competence in automation and Infrastructure-as-Code, preferably Ansible or equivalent.
Good knowledge of scripting, especially Bash. Python is a merit.
Experience with CI/CD and version control, for example Git and GitLab.
Understanding of X11, Xfce4/GNOME, as well as technologies for remote rendering/display.
Good understanding of networking, security, and monitoring/observability.
Experience with Prometheus-based observability is a merit.
Strong architectural thinking and the ability to design scalable and sustainable solutions.
Ability to work independently and take ownership of complex technical environments.
Fluent English. Swedish is a merit.

It is extra meritorious if you have experience with:
HPC environments and SLURM
NICE DCV, EnginFrame (EF Portal), Open OnDemand, or similar platforms for remote visualization
Container technologies such as Docker or Podman
Monitoring, observability, and related tools

Scope: Full-time
Work format: Hybrid, at least 3 days per week on-site
Selection takes place continuously.
There are good opportunities for extension of the assignment.
