Landscape Architect / Designer (Mid Level)
About the company
Second Nature is a design-led landscape architecture studio based in Singapore. We create thoughtful, context-driven and ecologically responsive environments, with projects in Singapore and across the region, including China, India, Vietnam and Thailand.
Our portfolio spans
- Mixed-use developments with layered spaces, vibrant programming and sky terraces
- Boutique luxury hospitality
- Nature-based destinations and sensitive ecological landscapes
- Urban public realms and community spaces
We work as an open, collaborative studio, with designers working directly alongside our Principals. Every team member has opportunities to shape ideas, contribute across project stages and see how design decisions translate into built landscapes.
Your tasks
Working alongside the Principals and the team, you will develop designs, coordinate with clients and consultants, and help carry projects from concept through documentation and construction.
- Design development: Develop project narratives, concept designs, schematic proposals and presentations that communicate clear spatial and experiential ideas.
- Technical documentation: Prepare and coordinate drawing packages covering levels and grading, hardscape details, planting, soil profiles and interfaces with drainage and other specialist systems.
- Client and consultant coordination: Work closely with clients, architects, engineers and specialist consultants to resolve interfaces and maintain design intent.
- Authority coordination: Support landscape-related submission packages and responses for Singapore projects, and coordinate with local consultants on overseas projects.
- Tender and construction: Contribute to tender documentation, review contractor submissions and shop drawings, attend site inspections and nursery tagging, and help resolve construction queries.
- Project delivery: Organise your work, monitor drawing progress and communicate priorities to help the team meet agreed deadlines.
Requirements
We are looking for a Landscape Architect or Landscape Designer with 3–7 years of relevant professional experience, combining strong design sensibility with practical technical and coordination skills.
- A degree or master’s in Landscape Architecture, Architecture or a related design discipline. Candidates with Architecture degree are welcome.
- 3–7 years of relevant professional experience, ideally within a design-focused practice.
- Experience contributing to projects through multiple stages. Built project or construction-stage exposure in Singapore or elsewhere in Asia is an advantage.
- A considered portfolio showing your design thinking, spatial understanding, technical ability and individual contribution.
- Working knowledge of construction detailing, levels, grading and drainage principles, with an understanding of tropical planting.
- Clear verbal, written and visual communication skills, and the ability to work effectively with clients, consultants and contractors.
- Proficiency in AutoCAD and Adobe Creative Suite, with working capability in Rhino and visualisation tools such as Enscape or Lumion.
- Familiarity with Singapore landscape authority submissions is an advantage.
- A collaborative approach, initiative and a willingness to follow design questions through to practical solutions.
Candidates with more experience should be comfortable taking greater responsibility for day-to-day project coordination and technical delivery.
What we offer
- Meaningful design responsibility: Contribute directly to distinctive local and regional projects.
- Close collaboration with Principals: Develop your judgement through regular design discussions and hands-on guidance.
- Exposure across project stages: Build experience from early concepts and client workshops through technical coordination and site implementation.
- A supportive studio: Join a close-knit team that values thoughtful design, shared learning and sustainable working practices.
