Consultant Specialist Visceral Surgery

Job description

We are seeking an experienced consultant/specialist visceral surgeon to join a leading healthcare facility in the UAE. The successful candidate will provide comprehensive surgical care for patients with complex gastrointestinal, abdominal, hepatobiliary, and related visceral conditions.

Key responsibilities

Assess, diagnose, and manage patients requiring visceral and gastrointestinal surgical intervention.

Perform elective and emergency abdominal and gastrointestinal procedures.

Manage conditions involving the stomach, small and large bowel, liver, gallbladder, pancreas, and other abdominal organs.

Perform minimally invasive and laparoscopic procedures where appropriately trained.

Conduct pre-operative assessments and develop individualized surgical plans.

Provide comprehensive post-operative care and manage surgical complications.

Collaborate with gastroenterologists, oncologists, radiologists, anesthesiologists, intensivists, and other specialists.

Participate in multidisciplinary meetings and complex case discussions.

Maintain accurate medical records and surgical documentation.

Participate in clinical governance, quality improvement, teaching, and continuing professional development.

Requirements

MBBS/MD or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.

Recognized postgraduate qualification in visceral surgery, general surgery, gastrointestinal surgery, or an equivalent relevant specialty.

Relevant post-specialty experience in visceral/gastrointestinal surgery.

Strong experience in complex abdominal and gastrointestinal procedures.

Laparoscopic/minimally invasive surgery experience is preferred.

Valid professional registration/license in the country of practice.

Excellent clinical judgment, surgical skills, and decision-making abilities.

Strong communication and multidisciplinary teamwork skills.

Consultant candidates: appropriate senior-level qualifications and substantial post-specialty experience.

Candidates with UK CCT/UK specialist qualifications, American Board, Australian Board, or South African Board are highly encouraged to apply.
