Head of QA

Your tasks

The Head of Quality Assurance & Management will lead the organisation’s quality strategy, governance and assurance across software engineering and product delivery.

The role owns the Quality Management System (QMS) and establishes the standards, processes and controls needed to deliver reliable products that meet applicable quality and compliance requirements. This includes directly leading QA process assurance and overseeing Quality Control (QC) through the Senior Manager of Application Testing.

• Own and continuously improve the organisation’s QMS, quality policies, standards and governance framework.
• Establish quality checkpoints, acceptance criteria and clear accountabilities across requirements, design, development, testing and release.
• Review adherence to quality standards across engineering teams and address gaps in processes or delivery practices.
• Drive defect prevention, root cause analysis and corrective actions to reduce recurring issues and improve product quality.
• Oversee application testing strategy, test coverage, automation, non-functional testing and defect management.
• Establish release and change governance, including quality readiness assessments, exception handling and emergency changes.
• Integrate quality controls into Agile and DevOps delivery practices, including CI/CD pipelines.
• Establish appropriate quality controls for AI-assisted development and testing, including validation, regression testing and safety considerations.
• Define and monitor quality indicators, such as defect trends, test effectiveness and release readiness, and communicate key risks and business impact to senior leadership.
• Lead and develop the quality organisation, including managers, team leads and specialists across QA, testing and automation.
• Manage quality budgets, tools and vendors, aligning resources with delivery priorities and quality risks.
• Partner with Engineering, Product, Design, Security and Support to resolve quality issues and improve delivery practices.

Requirements

The successful candidate will combine strategic leadership with practical knowledge of software delivery, translating technical quality risks into business impact and driving improvements throughout the development lifecycle.

Experience & Requirements

• Minimum 12 years of relevant working experience spanning software quality assurance, software engineering and quality management, with atleast 6 years in senior technology or QA leadership, with experience managing teams of approximately 50 people through managers and team leads.
• Proven experience owning or implementing an organisation-wide QMS or quality governance framework.
• Strong experience establishing QA processes, quality gates, release controls and change governance.
• Demonstrated ability to improve quality through defect prevention, root cause analysis and process improvement.
• Sound technical understanding of test automation, CI/CD and modern software development practices.
