R&D Project Manager - inertial navigation systems (m/f)

In a context of growth and structuring of our R&D, we are today creating a new position of R&D Project Manager – Navigation Systems. 🎯 Your role At SBG Systems, the Project Manager is at the heart of product development. In our technological and industrial SME environment, you work directly with the teams that design, develop, test, and industrialize our systems. You take responsibility for complex R&D projects, from the initial definition phases to their qualification and transition to production. A true conductor, you coordinate a project team of about ten contributors or more, bringing together different expertise: system, electronics, mechanics, embedded software, algorithmics, validation, and industrialization. You work in close partnership with the System Engineer, who is the guarantor of technical consistency, architecture, and technical trade-offs of the product. On your side, you are responsible for the proper execution of the project: planning, budget, resources, risks, coordination, and meeting commitments. Your objective: to give a clear trajectory to the project, create the conditions allowing the different expertises to work effectively together, and lead the development toward a high-performance, qualified, and industrializable product. 🛠️ Your missions Drive your projects from end to end Build and manage the project planning, budget, resources, risks, and milestones;

Coordinate a multidisciplinary project team of about ten contributors or more;

Define priorities, identify dependencies, and anticipate bottlenecks;

Organize and lead project reviews and meetings;

Perform trade-offs related to project management and implement necessary action plans;

Guarantee the achievement of quality, cost, and deadline objectives;

Ensure clear reporting on progress, risks, and expected decisions.

Coordinate R&D developments Drive the breakdown of project objectives with the System Engineer and the various business managers;

Coordinate developments involving system, electronics, mechanics, embedded software, and algorithmics;

Participate in major technical reviews and integrate their conclusions and impacts into project management;

Identify technical risks likely to affect the project and coordinate their treatment with the relevant experts;

Maintain a global vision of the progress and maturity level of the product.

Drive validation and qualification Plan and coordinate the various validation and qualification phases;

Drive performance, environmental, EMC tests, and various qualification campaigns with the relevant teams;

Track identified deviations, their resolution, and their potential impacts on the project;

Guarantee the preparation and passing of various milestones until product qualification.

Integrate industrialization from the design stage At SBG Systems, industrialization does not start once development is finished: it is integrated into the project from its earliest phases. As such, you: Associate Industrialization teams with the structuring stages of development and the main project reviews;

Integrate manufacturability, testability, costs, and production means challenges from the start;

Anticipate needs related to pre-series and production ramp-up;

Coordinate with the relevant teams the preparation of the transfer to production;

Ensure that the product reaches the necessary maturity level before its transition to series production.

👤 The profile we are looking for A graduate of an engineering school or a scientific training at a Master's level (Bac+5), you have approximately 10 years of experience in the development of complex technological products or systems, with significant experience in driving R&D projects. Your background has allowed you to develop a solid technical culture, ideally in the field of embedded systems, before or alongside your evolution toward project management responsibilities. You have already driven multidisciplinary developments bringing together several technical trades and a project team of about ten contributors or more. You master the fundamentals of project management: planning, budget, resources, risks, milestones, trade-offs, validation, qualification, and industrialization. You have evolved in human-sized technological environments, or in organizations that allowed you to have a comparable level of autonomy and responsibility. You appreciate low-silo environments, in which the Project Manager remains close to the product and the teams that develop it. You do not need to be the expert in each of the trades you coordinate. However, your engineering culture allows you to understand technical issues, ask the right questions, challenge your interlocutors, and measure their consequences on the project. Knowledge of issues related to sensors, GNSS, inertial systems, or navigation systems is a real asset. Experience acquired in comparable technological environments — aeronautics, space, defense, robotics, mobility, or other complex embedded systems — will also be particularly relevant. Finally, your transverse leadership, autonomy, and pragmatism allow you to move expert teams forward without necessarily having a direct hierarchical link. You know how to maintain a global vision of your project while entering into detail when the situation requires it. You are comfortable in English in an international professional and technical environment. 🌱 Why join us?
