Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW)
The Licensed Electrical Worker is responsible for providing statutory electrical support, certification, inspection, and technical advisory services for building and facility operations. The role ensures compliance with regulatory requirements, oversees electrical maintenance works, approves electrical installations where required, and provides professional supervision of contractors and service providers.
Key Responsibilities
- Act as the appointed LEW for electrical installations where required.
- Provide statutory inspection, certification, endorsement, and submission of electrical works in accordance with local regulatory requirements.
- Conduct periodic inspections of electrical systems, switchgear, transformers, generators, and associated infrastructure.
- Review electrical maintenance programs and ensure compliance with statutory regulations and industry standards.
- Provide technical guidance and supervision for electrical maintenance, repair, upgrading, and replacement works.
- Investigate electrical faults and recommend corrective and preventive actions.
- Support emergency response activities involving electrical systems and power disruptions.
- Review risk assessments, method statements, and permit-to-work documentation related to electrical works.
- Liaise with regulatory authorities, consultants, contractors, and stakeholders on electrical compliance matters.
- Maintain accurate records of inspections, certifications, reports, and statutory documentation.
Requirements
- Valid Licensed Electrical Worker (LEW) license.
- Diploma or Degree in Electrical Engineering or a related discipline.
- Minimum 5 years of relevant experience in electrical systems, building facilities, or infrastructure maintenance.
- Strong knowledge of electrical regulations, safety requirements, and statutory compliance.
- Experience in commercial, institutional, industrial, or government facilities will be an advantage.
- Able to provide technical support on an off-site or advisory basis when required.
