Your tasks
Your role Saab's Business Area Naval is now seeking an experienced Intellectual Property Specialist who wants to be the cohesive function in our patent work. The role is based on the patent coordinator assignment and combines ongoing management of patent cases with a clear mission to develop how IP is integrated into our development projects. An important part of the role is to participate as early as the startup of new development projects. Together with project management and relevant technical competencies, you contribute to a project-specific IP strategy: which technology areas need to be monitored, which IP issues the project needs to handle, and how potential inventions should be captured. The goal is for IP to become a natural part of the project work from the start and throughout the project's development. You will also become an active part of a cross-functional patent council within BA Naval where patent and IP issues are discussed together with relevant competencies. Furthermore, the role involves collaboration in a network of IP Specialists from other parts of Saab, with a focus on knowledge exchange, collaboration, and the further development of common working methods within the IP field. Main tasks Coordinate invention disclosures, patent searches, novelty searches, patent applications, and ongoing patent cases. Support inventors and technical specialists in describing and documenting inventions. Coordinate patent monitoring and follow up on results together with technical experts. Compile and coordinate documentation for decisions within the IP field. Participate at the startup of new development projects and contribute to the project's IP strategy and working methods. Participate actively in the patent council within Naval and collaborate with patent coordinators within the rest of Saab. Develop methods, routines, and support that make IP a natural part of the development work.
Requirements
Your profile We are looking for you who, in addition to managing the ongoing patent process, wants to help shape the next step. You will have significant room to develop how IP enters projects, how issues are followed up, and how we build knowledge and a more proactive IP culture in the organization. To succeed in the role, we believe you have the following qualifications: Several years of experience in patent-related work from a patent and IP firm, industry, or equivalent business. Good knowledge of and experience with the different parts of the patent process. Relevant M.Sc. Engineering degree or equivalent technical university education in, for example, mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, engineering physics, computer engineering, systems engineering, or related fields. Ability to familiarize yourself with technical issues and translate them into an IP perspective. Very good ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing. A structured, independent, and communicative way of working. Good collaborative skills and experience working with different professions and areas of expertise. A genuine interest in patent and IP issues as well as a desire to contribute to the development of the organization's IP work.
Meritorious Specialization within patent and IP activities. Experience in building up, developing, or improving working methods and processes within the IP field.
