Do you want to influence and make a real difference? Here, you will contribute to creating security for people and societies. What you do matters.

Your role

The work as a flight test engineer involves a combination of theoretical and practical work. Among other things, you will develop test methodologies and test programs, prepare and lead tests in various test stations, as well as analyze and evaluate the results. Testing is carried out in rigs, support systems, and aircraft.

As a flight test engineer within avionics and software integration, you are responsible for testing avionics computers and the communication between the computer units, where a large part of the testing is conducted in avionics rigs and includes, among other things, various types of fault simulations as well as flight safety assessments together with a pilot.

We have close cooperation with the development department, other areas within the flight test department, and customers. The working climate is characterized by a lack of hierarchy and good cooperation, which means that everyone helps out where needed.

In addition to testing within the technical field, the following tasks are also included in the role:

Loading new software editions into aircraft.

Leading or supporting troubleshooting within the technical field during aircraft failures. E.g., reading out fault logs as well as analyzing the traffic between the aircraft's various computer units at the data bus level.

Responsible for maintaining and procuring loading and troubleshooting computers as well as test equipment.

Since our operations have technical breadth and depth and handle modern technology that is constantly evolving, there are good opportunities for varied tasks, personal development, and career opportunities. The role of flight test engineer also includes a training program that will provide you with a continuous opportunity for development.

Your profile

You are a curious, positive person with good cooperation and communication skills because the role involves coordination and collaboration with several different stakeholders such as pilots, aircraft technicians, system developers, and customers. You take independent responsibility for driving work forward and you easily adapt to changing conditions in everyday life.

We believe that you are educated as a university-level engineer, civil engineer, or equivalent in, e.g., electrical or computer engineering. If you have experience in testing or system development, it is advantageous for the role. Knowledge and ability to handle measurement and test equipment, configure computers in Windows and Linux, as well as troubleshooting via analysis of data traffic and fault logs is also advantageous.

To thrive in the role, you should have a genuine interest in technology and appreciate order and tidiness, as all work is carefully documented. Documentation is carried out for the most part in English, and therefore it is necessary that you have knowledge of English and are comfortable using the language in your daily work, especially in writing.

The position requires that you undergo and are approved according to the security protection regulations in force at any given time. For positions where Saab has requirements for security clearance classification, this may, where applicable, involve requirements for certain citizenship.
