The Methods & Tools team enables the digital transformation of the engineering department at RWE Offshore Wind. As a Data & AI Engineer, you will design, develop, and scale backend applications, databases, APIs, and cloud-based solutions that support engineering and renewable energy activities at RWE Offshore Wind. Working closely with the Product Owners of Methods & Tools as well as subject matter experts from across engineering, you will drive platform integration, Data Governance, AI-powered solutions, and the further development of robust, business-critical digital products.

The Role

• Leading the design and maintenance of scalable backend services, APIs, databases, and cloud-native applications.
• Defining and further developing the integration strategy across tools and data platforms to create centralized and scalable solution frameworks that enable business growth and operational efficiency.
• Enabling seamless data exchange and interoperability between functions and operating companies.
• Leading the introduction and further development of AI-powered automation, analysis, and reporting solutions.
• Strengthening Data Governance and maintaining trustworthy central data sources ("Single Sources of Truth").
• Scaling and improving existing tools to increase resilience, reduce risks, and maximize business value.
• Collaborating with Product Owners, engineers, and subject matter experts to deliver impactful solutions.
• Promoting Engineering Excellence and best practices in the areas of design, testing, documentation, and software deployment.
• Taking on technical leadership as well as mentoring and coaching within the engineering teams to promote best practices and continuous improvement.

Your Profile

• Master's degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Data Engineering, or a related field.
• More than 8 years of experience in backend or software engineering roles.
• Profound knowledge in Python development, including experience with REST-APIs.
• Experience with SQL databases; knowledge of NoSQL and vector databases is an advantage.
• Experience with Azure or comparable cloud platforms, including Docker and Kubernetes.
• Experience with Git, CI/CD, testing, and agile development methodologies.
• Experience with modern data platforms, preferably Databricks, as well as with the development of AI applications using LLMs, Agents, RAG, and workflow orchestration frameworks.
• Strong analytical skills, problem-solving competence, and strong communication skills, as well as experience in large, complex corporate organizations; fluent English skills.
