Engineering & Trades Recruiter

Ropsley Group is looking for an experienced Engineering & Trades Recruiter to take ownership of recruitment across our engineering businesses.

You’ll recruit skilled engineering, manufacturing and site-based personnel, working closely with operational teams to understand workforce requirements, identify skills gaps and build talent pipelines ahead of demand.

This is a proactive recruitment role — not simply filling vacancies. You’ll manage the process from sourcing and initial screening through to selection and mobilisation, working alongside HR on offers, onboarding and employment.

What You’ll Recruit

Roles will vary by project and workload and may include:

• Welders
• Pipe Fitters
• Platers
• Mechanical Fitters
• Fabricators
• Site personnel
• Supervisors and operational roles
• Other skilled engineering and manufacturing positions

Recruitment may range from individual permanent hires to larger project, shutdown and mobilisation campaigns.

The Role

You’ll manage the full recruitment lifecycle, including:

• Managing multiple engineering and skilled-trade vacancies.
• Proactively sourcing candidates through job boards, LinkedIn, social media, referrals and talent pools.
• Screening and interviewing candidates.
• Coordinating interviews, trade tests and selection.
• Building pipelines for critical and hard-to-fill trades.
• Maintaining relationships with candidates for future requirements.
• Working with operational managers to understand current and upcoming workforce needs.
• Supporting recruitment for new projects, shutdowns and contract awards.
• Checking qualifications, competency cards and compliance documentation.
• Working with HR on offers, contracts, onboarding and mobilisation.
• Maintaining accurate recruitment records and monitoring recruitment activity.
• Building relationships with colleges, training providers and industry contacts.
• Attending recruitment events and job fairs where appropriate.

Who We’re Looking For

We’re looking for someone with recruitment experience within engineering, skilled trades, construction, manufacturing, industrial or site-based markets .

You may currently be an Engineering Recruiter, Recruitment Consultant, Trades & Labour Recruiter, Skilled Trades Recruiter, Industrial Recruiter or Recruitment Specialist. Agency recruiters looking to move in-house are also welcome.

You’ll need to be confident managing multiple requirements, communicating with candidates and tradespeople, and working with Project Managers, Directors and HR.

Most importantly, you’ll be proactive and comfortable sourcing candidates who aren't actively looking for work .

Essential Experience

• Recruitment experience within engineering, skilled trades, construction, manufacturing, industrial or a similar sector.
• Experience managing multiple vacancies or a recruitment desk.
• Strong sourcing and headhunting skills.
• Candidate screening and interviewing experience.
• Confidence working with operational and hiring managers.
• Strong organisation and ability to manage changing priorities.
• Experience with job boards, LinkedIn and ATS/candidate databases.
• Good attention to detail and understanding of recruitment compliance.
• Knowledge of trade qualifications, competency cards, project mobilisation and workforce planning would be advantageous.
