Research Associate (m/f/d)

The current research focuses of the professorship are history of knowledge, Artificial Intelligence, cross-species collaborations, embodiment, and virtuality research.

As a Research Associate (m/f/d), you will independently and reliably perform the following tasks:

Scope: Full-time Duration: fixed-term, 4 years Start: at the earliest possible date Apply by: 25.08.2026

Your tasks:

• scientific further qualification (the possibility for habilitation or working on a "second book" exists) in the field of media studies, possibly with interdisciplinary connections
• conducting media studies courses in the amount of currently 4 semester hours per week in the B.A. and M.A. programs of the IfM
• willingness to cooperate with the collaborative research projects of the IfM
• participation in research projects: The applicant (m/f/d) should contribute to currently ongoing and future planned research focuses
• participation in book projects
• support in the organization and implementation of third-party funded projects and conferences
• activities in the field of editing scientific texts
• participation in examinations of the professorship for media history and communication theory
• undertaking tasks in the self-administration of the institute

Your profile:

• very good doctorate in the field of media studies or a cultural studies discipline
• teaching experience in media/cultural studies degree programs (B.A./M.A.)
• research focuses in at least one of the above-mentioned fields are desirable
• business-fluent command of English
• a high degree of communication and teamwork skills
• good self-organization
